Phono cartridge noises @lewm I know he doesn’t have hum. But a cartridge susceptible to hum may also be sensitive to RF breakthrough. why go there when we know he has a giant radio antenna 1000 yards from his room? Because he said the turntable in another room is f...
Phono cartridge noises @skyy75234 Yeah, the tracer was between me and Lew in discussing signal injection. Are you sure there are no routers/modems/repeaters near the room? Grados can be prone to hum. Have you tried a different cartridge?
I need some high quality Printed Circuit Boards Made (DYNACO ST-70) Boards for $35 at the link I supplied above.
Would changing to a MC solve my problem? 2.4mV with 46dB gain will give you 400mV 0.4mV with 66dB gain will give you twice that. Ref. Vinyl Engine. You could also get a higher output MM where 4.5mV beats both at 46dB gain.
Phono cartridge noises @lewm It's basically adding a signal at any point in a circuit for whatever reason, mainly troubleshooting. See here for more info. In this case the added signal is the unwanted RF.
Audiogon web site is slow for me...... @tammyholt Any known issues? Still laggy here.
I need some high quality Printed Circuit Boards Made (DYNACO ST-70) @autospec What about Dynakits?
I need some high quality Printed Circuit Boards Made (DYNACO ST-70) @roxy54 autospec is Mr. Vincent. Have you tried asking Will Vincent?
What was the most expensive record that you ever bought ? @richmon I was reading your post from 2009 when you first dipped toes in the vinyl pool. Great to hear you're fully vested now! I've all the original Hawkwind albums up to 1982. Hard to pick a favorite.
What was the most expensive record that you ever bought ? Almost mint copy of original Hawkwind - X in Search of Space with an immaculate Log Book included for $50. I gave my somewhat tattered copy of the Log Book to a girl back in the day and always regretted it. They go for $200-$300+ now. I tend to ba...
Phono cartridge noises @lewm As the interference is only occurring when the cartridge is plugged in, the issue is not with the phono amp itself, and therefore, the Faraday cage wouldn’t make a difference. The noise is being injected. That's why I suggested common RFI s...
New MC Cartridge from Wayne's Audio So what’s the question? Is the cartridge installed and plugged into the phono amp MC input? If so, try adjusting the loading to 50 or 100 ohms, or to whatever sounds best to you.
Phono cartridge noises The issue occurs when the OP plugs in the phono lead so I cannot see that working. In the worst case, you may have to consider placing your phono stage inside a Faraday cage type of shield.
Phono cartridge noises They appear to be tube phono stages. Try a solid state one like a Schiit Mani 2. You can also try adding a RF filter capacitor across the phono input. Add a ferrite bead to the 'hot' wire coming from the RCA plug inside the amp.
What was the most expensive record that you ever bought ? @mikelavigne I hope you have a serious relationship with your insurance agent. |
