LAST record preservative improves the sound
inna & mofimadness,I read your post and went to grab the bottle. Ha!  It's not LAST, it's LIFESAVER by Audio Texhnica!  I feel silly. Anyway I apparently have no experience with LAST, just Soundguard by Ball and LIFESAVER by Audio Technica. St...
LAST record preservative improves the sound
Hmmm, I have two unopened bottles from1984, and one partial from 83.  Whats the chances of this still being good?Slim I would suspect.  Need to go online and see who carries it. Honestly, I wasn't aware that A-T was still making it.Norman

tomic601,You probably want somethijng with an omnidirectional pattern, or a mic with a selectable pattern. Used mics are a bargin and ususally the older the better.  Look for AKG, Audio Technica, Sure, Nueman and Sony.  They all made outstanding m...
Bad caps???
I had exactly the same problem a few years ago with a McIntosh preamp.  I sent the unit to Mac and they sent it back with a clean bill of health.  I put it back into the system and had the same problem.  Out of frustration I swapped out the patch ...
Vintage Krell Amp... Which would you choose?
I had a KSA-50, and used it for a few years.  It's still my favorite Krell.  Don't let the 50 watts fool you, it will drive anything with plenty of volume.  It will also need servicing every few years, just too much heat and eventually electronics...
ARE YOU A " TRUE EXPERT AUDIOPHILE " ( T E A ) ???
At one time years ago I might have called myself an audiophile, but I think music junkie better describes me these days.  I no longer listen to the gear, I listen to the music.Norman
LAST record preservative improves the sound
Inna,I used to use  LAST, and I think I still have a bottle somewhere.  I also used Soundguard, both with good results.  But I can't ever remember either making my records sound better.  I think the application does help with static, but applying ...
How many use Vintage Hi-Fi systems?
Sam,Yes, and I have really been enjoying it. I am going to keep two preamps and one power amp. Everything else is about gone now, but there are just certain pieces that you can't part with. =)Norman
A New Reel to Reel Tape Deck?
Sam,I  still thinking that there is another company that will display a new reel to reel as well.  I am basing that on Michael Fremers report. It seems like someone who has produced them in the past is gearing up for it once more. Almost certainly...
Be careful when dealing with Pyon Sound - John Park
K500a,Sorry to hear of your troubles. Good news is that your Pyon table can certainly be sorted out. It's a beautiful table. If the bearing is off, take it to a reputable repair shop and have it installed correctly. Same with the speed control. I ...

Tomic601,You will love  recording with the ReVox. I have a B77 series 1, that I used to use extensively. Get a couple of good used mics to start with with and plug directly into the ReVox. You will be floored at how good a recording you can get wi...
How many use Vintage Hi-Fi systems?
Just received my Sansui 9090DB back from servicing (Deltronics).  Guru of all things audio 'Mike', gave the old girl a clean bill of health. Repairs needed?  Zero. All functions exceeding spec. Not bad for a 39 year old receiver. =)He did have to ...

Mike,I used to have a 3300SX. Fantastic machine.  Mine was super smooth.  I would imagine that your recordings are as excellent reproductions of your vinyl collection.  I actually do the same as you with my favorite vinyl. The TASCAM would be a lit...
A New Reel to Reel Tape Deck?
m-db.I love the old Ampex and Crown machines.  Pioneer is a unique company.  Many don't realize the commitment they made to the open reel format.  Before doing studio work in the late 70s, I did some time in the Chicago area radio stations.  Sever...
