An interesting Digital vs. Analog experience
Hatfields vs McCoys-----sounds a lot like Irish Alzheimer's: They forget everything but the grudge.Too much baggage from past audio relationships. One must treat the new with an open eye (ear).
1K dac
Check out the DACmini. Audio Advisor has a great return policy if you don't like it. I got mine directly from Centrance and its a keeper, for me.There are a couple of great reviews on it over at PFO and 6moons.Oh, and you'll come in $200 under you...
Which DAC w/ More Top to Bottom Extension?
Foster 9,I ordered mine directly from the manufacture. Yours was probably already in stock. Hope you have the same, rewarding experience I had.All the best,Nonoise

It was just a week or so ago that I chimed in on a thread stating that CDs will be around for a long time. They will. They will just get less use by me. Never thought I'd say that.
Which DAC w/ More Top to Bottom Extension?
I have the Centrance DACmini and with only a few days use and not trying out any other make, may I dare suggest you try it. The frequency extension is great. What bass I had with my Tonian Labs TL-D1s (nice, but soft) now hits like a hammer with g...
Are Disc Players Dead?
Clouds may be the way to go but I hope they put enough silver iodine in them to keep them around. I can just imagine everything being on a cloud and then, poof! Where did it go? This is all in jest but I remember someone 'loosing' the entire 18th ...

Cool! Thanks Sugith for the tip, along with the OP.There seems to be more than one way to skin this cat.

Very thorough indeed. It reminds me of the old days when just shutting off the display on a CDP improved the sound. For the paranoid amongst us, is it possible that someone, someday will make an app that can turn off and on these features/programs...
Now that my feet are wet....
Sorry about the double post as I tried to edit some bad grammar.

I dunno....10ppm,<1ps jitter (immeasurable) on the receiving end, after their proprietary buffer and DAC....Is this really old USB technology? Most of their stats go over my head but this is one quiet unit with a noise floor that is subterranea...

Mezmo,Thanks for the well thought out reply. As you noted, I failed to point out a valid comparison. It was compared to my TEAC PDH-600 (its no slouch) as a stand alone or as a transport for the DACmini. As a transport, it acquitted itself quite n...

Nobody expects the Spanish Inquisition!-with apologies to Monty Python
Audiophiles are older than dirt
I remember when Billy Barty used to sub for Sheriff John and when he sung "Put Another Candle on my Birthday Cake", it would be Sheriff John's voice. At first it freaked me out, but I got used to it. I just couldn't figure out the hows and whys.I,...

How can a power cord make a difference? It does. How can interconnects make a difference? They do.I don't mean to be snide but this have been discussed to death already. Some of us hear big differences that we can't put into words, but they are ther...
