Marantz SA-15S2b, thoughts & opinions
I just had to post that yesterday, somewhere around the 240 hr mark, the sound blossomed. Maybe bloomed. It's beyond words right now but it's almost intoxicating, like I'm drinking one song after the next. Supposedly it gets better up to the 400 m...
Should Sound Quality of Computer Audio be improved
This thread gives new and insightful meaning to circular reasoning.PO, your conclusion is based on your premise and made to seem valid by the use of some factual tidbits that can stand apart from your premise. Your argument can be reduced to: "Com...
Neutral or warm? Which do you prefer?
Agreed. Speaking of venues, I had the pleasure of being stuck at a traffic light and was fortunate to be under an overpass and some kind soul was playing the sax ever so lovingly. Not loud enough to reverberate like crazy but softly, allowing the ...
Neutral or warm? Which do you prefer?
I was just going to say, until Bob beat me to it, that live acoustic events can sound weak, thin, and not very image specific. Go one step further and play the same acoustic material at another place and the sound can and will change dramatically....
Why does most new music suck?
Commercialization is the villain. Music has become a commodity. Try looking outside this continent to find something new and challenging. Stay away from formula driven music. Avoid rehashed drivel. Take a chance on something you normally wouldn't....

Marantz SA-15S2b, thoughts & opinions
I thought I'd post an update on the Marantz SA-15S2b which I ended up buying. I'm keeping it. It has that classic Marantz house sound without going retro. Simply put, it carries a lot of weight and gravitas yet still lets the details (more than I ...
Why does an audiophile grade power cord matter?
Do a search for some pretty exhaustive discussions on power cords. There was a nice one not more than a couple of months ago. Long story short: they do make a difference but you don't have to spend a lot to get an improvement over the stock power ...

Interconnect Cables for Pre-and Power amp
Rodriguez is one of the best cartoonist out there. He also has a wickedly dark side as well.
Interconnect Cables for Pre-and Power amp
Great, and I must say, civilized discussion here. I'm familiar with the pitfalls of lesser quality silver ICs as I own a couple pair. The Darwins that I recently got don't fall into that "lesser quality" category. Every once in a while someone get...
Neutral or warm? Which do you prefer?
I prefer natural, which is neutral with the natural warmth that accompanies it. Clarity is paramount as it is part of natural, which is neutral and with the warmth that accompanies it. I could go on but I won't (you're welcome).Yes, it is all subj...
Should Sound Quality of Computer Audio be improved
This is like talking to Alex Jones. What's the point? Sales of CDs are down. CDs that everyone already has a copy of. CDs of music that are no longer selling. Boo hoo.I don't listen to all music, just the music I like. It has been rare, if ever, t...
Interconnect Cables for Pre-and Power amp
Try some Darwin Silver ICs and be done with it. If it's coherence you're after, and all the attendant qualities, plus the other ones you're after, you really can't do better for the price you mention, and they'd be new.All the best,Nonoise
Review: Darwin Cable Silver IC Interconnect
I've just listened for an hour and a half and can't believe the improvements I'm hearing with these silver ICs. Break in time is minimal and, I'm told, will continue to improve incrementally, here and there. COHERENCE is the factor here. Not hyper...
