Why does most new music suck?
I think the loss of civility is the canary in the coal mine in that it is one of the symptoms of a declining civilization. History is full of the declines of empires from Easter Island to the Roman Empire to the recurring 52 year cyclic reinventio...
New Speaker for Under 5K
The best speaker I heard at the Newport Audio Show was the Prana fifty90. It had the most coherent and compelling sound I've heard. I don't know if it goes low enough for you but if I had $4000 I'd seriously consider getting a pair.Todd Garfunkel ...
Darwin silver IC's or Cabledyne silver IC's?
If you read my post there was nothing remotely stated to suggest a pissing contest. I thought this was a friendly discussion.
Darwin silver IC's or Cabledyne silver IC's?
Not to start an argument here but the whole idea behind Darwin's philosophy is to eliminate the barrel completely. If the anodized coating applied to the aluminum barrel is enough to quell any interaction with the actual contact inside of it, then...
Darwin silver IC's or Cabledyne silver IC's?
Hmmm, yes it is:http://audiometallurgy.com/xhadow-precision-rca-plug-small.htmlThe barrel assembly and rear lock nut are solid aluminum and the "contact" inserted into it is silver plated copper. All the best,Nonoise
Does Anyone Offer Audio Mods For A Mac Mini?
There's this too: http://www.clonesaudio.com/#!accessory/conwIt's from Hong Kong but he has a north American dealer listed in his "contact" section. All the best,Nonoise
Darwin silver IC's or Cabledyne silver IC's?
I just found out that the Xhadow connectors used by many of the cable makers out there is aluminum. I thought it was some non-conductive material like what the Eichmann Bullets use. Aluminum is a very conductive metal though not as good as cooper ...
Lots of detail, great imaging, not much bass?
At the Newport Audio show the Silverline Minuets were displayed right next to the Prelude Plus models and though I only heard the Preludes, if the MInuets can play anything like their bigger brother, then your search has narrowed down quite a bit....
Should Sound Quality of Computer Audio be improved
Petty Officer,It seems that the data out there was aways open to interpretation. Even a totally objective determination can only conclude what is currently happening making any forecast a guess, at best. Here is another bit of data that contradicts...
Kevin gets the
It could be serendipity. A couple of units go out for review, reviewers talk, one wants to be first in getting it out, and wouldn't you know, two reviews of the same unit at the same time.Or, one unit is making the rounds, one reviewer sits on his...

The sound it makes as it settles in the night.
Lots of detail, great imaging, not much bass?
I just got back from the Newport Audio show and if you can stretch your budget another $100, there was the Martin Logan Motion 15 that made more than adequate bass and sounded pretty good for a monitor. Actually more than pretty good. I don't know...
Marantz SA-15S2b, thoughts & opinions
Audiozen, no I haven't had the pleasure of trying the Cabledyne ICs but I'm really taken by the Darwins. They seem to follow similar recipes of thin, solid core, cryo'd silver with a mostly air dielectric. The similarity ends with the terminations...
Music Server now bane of my existence
I'm with Jburidan on this one, always have been actually. Development of PC audio is on a constant rise with the positive benefits of improvement and the negative detraction of obsolescence of what you just bought not 3 months ago. There is an attr...

Tboooe, thanks for the pat on the back. I will get back to you after I've had it awhile.Audiozen, thanks for the advice but the CODA is way out of my price range. I'm sure it sounds great and has all the output one can ask for but my room isn't th...
