What capacitor would you use to upgrade Wharfedale Linton 85th Anniversary? Swapped out the tweeter caps in my Nola Vipers which were already fitted with Mundorf EVO caps to Mundorf Silver/Gold oil caps and the results were not subtle. Go with the best you can afford...
Primaluna Prologue Premium CDP I've been running a PrimaLuna ProLogue 8 CDP for quite a few years now and have yet to run across a noticeably warm disc but I usually change discs after each play maybe cutting back to a favorite track or two but even then I have never a noticeab...

Suggest one obsure album we all should hear larryi, check out the movie Roadracers. His song "No more Hotdogs" is used in the roller rink scenes but is listed with a different title in the credits. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/RoadracersEnjoy
Suggest one obsure album we all should hear None more obscure than Hasil Adkins "Out to Hunch" includes the song "No more Hotdogs". Corey Greenburg reviewed it in his Stereophile days and it's a downright hoot! I ran across a vinyl copy in Austin and snagged it up and it really is as Corey ...
Better Records White Hot Stampers: Now the Story Can Be Told! I tested the waters of Better Records and bought one of the lower priced offerings and was not really blown away but it does sound quite good. I've been buying original releases from the late 70's on and as others have noted, a lot of these origin...
Thinking of trying "vintage" sound just for fun The term "Vintage Iron" isn't just a casual description. I have several old restored EICO products that sound extremely linear but retain that musicality and authority that vintage equipment is capable of in our modern hi fi world. Pair them with...
what are some of best tonearms you own or experience with. I'll throw my hat in the ring and say that the Thales Easy is one fine tonearm. I have it mated to a modded out VPI Scout in a separate tonearm pod and this thing sings. Eliminating the tracing distortion inherit with pivoted arms has been a reve...
Anyone Have M2Tech Gear? Looking for opinions I have the M2 Tech Vaughn DAC that I purchased from a friend after replacing some PS caps that had failed in the unit. As you may know, the unit runs on battery power that gets charged when the battery runs low. Best digital I've heard in my syste...
vandersteen quattro ct owners what speaker cables do you use? bi-wire? I own the Quatros and use MIT Shotgun S1 biwire with outstanding results. Used AQ Volcano biwire for awhile but the MIT bring a more pronounced 3D soundstage especially in the bass region and more meat on the bones. Either one are extremely good a...
Do current model vandersteen speakers work with any spade speaker cables? I have a pair of Quatros and had to switch to the smaller 7/16" spades on my MIT cables and even then they are still a very tight fit in the barrier strips. Vandersteen specifies spades no wider that 7/16". As to your Galileo speaker cables, any b...
Which speakers did you find bright, fatiguing or just disappointing in some way? The Cabasse Farella 401 speakers hit on all cylinders when paired with a quality SE or PP tube amp but hook a SS amp up to them and they would drive you from the room. Bright, fatiguing and light in the bass although the bass was always tuneful. E...
Thiel cs2.3 unsoundI didnt think the Aleph 3 would be a good match with my Vandersteen Quatros but it drives them with no problem and sounds heavenly. There is also this since you're drawing from reviews.. "Speaking of speakers, this baby appears to be stabl...
Who remembers the Dahlquist DQ-10's? My first pair of high end speakers was the Fried Beta speakers with the matching subwoofer but all that changed when I heard the original Alon l speakers. Real soundstage with articulate bass and it beat the ML Aries I had at the time.
What is the best audiophile speaker for a tiny square room? For a small room and near field listening, nothing beats the Audio Physics Step. No longer available but worth seeking out. |
