What makes a speaker sound great at low volume? I think good speakers sound equally well at all volumes. At least, this is what I observe with my Thiel CS6 and CS3.6 ones. I can hear the same deepness and resolution at a low volume as at a high volume (given that the recording quality is good) ...
Thiel Customer Service - New ownership is terrible!!! - WHAT HAPPENED TO THIS COMPANY ? I did a similar job. Rob Gillum from Thiel said that it is ok to solder normally. He even said not to use silver solder. Good luck
Who still listens to their First Generation Cd Players? And I can avoid use of LPs as Raymio DAC settles the problem with analog interpretation.
Who still listens to their First Generation Cd Players? My main music source remain CD players (and rarely I use my Yamaha K-850 cassette deck - some cassettes give good dynamics). CD players I use are (about 20-years old) Krell CAD 300, Yamaha CDS2000 and sometimes Arcam CD 73. Krell has the oldest...
Eric Clapton reveals this week of his declining health sorry to hear this, however he may still sing. as to bb king's note, perhaps he said this in some particular context. taking into account the contribution by unit time of life, i wouldperhaps give some priority to jimi hendrix
Does a tube need the break-in hours? Thanks guys, Mike and tomcy6 !! The tubes were kept properly, of course. And I bough them directly at Manley in Chinos, CA, about 15 years ago (they were not expensive at all). It did not clean the pins (legs), I though, since the problem is not p...
Does a tube need the break-in hours? thanks! then NOS tubes would be the most appropriate (though it should be almost impossible to consider a new tube or one in a good condition from 50s or 60s).
Does a tube need the break-in hours? Thanks guys for the input! To my experience, the break-in hours significantly improve the performance of speakers, and the amps as well. For tubes this is not so evident for me (perhaps, because one usually does not replace all the tubes simultane...
Switching to solid state amp? For about 17 years I was basically using tube Manley Stingray. They drive very well Thiel CS3.6 speakers with a natural and open overall performance. Since a few years ago, I have two more amps, which are solid state, but both give tube-like s...
Wilsons are the best speakers in the world This is more a matter of taste and also attitude/ideology. I personally am not excited with them, as, for my taste, they give a bit sharp and a bit aggressive (non-smooth) sound, the lower frequencies they give are not as good. They are not bad, o...
Thiel Customer Service - New ownership is terrible!!! - WHAT HAPPENED TO THIS COMPANY ? Very nice news, enjoy newly your CS 7.2s! According to my personal experience, Thiel speakers sound excellent with tube, as well as solid state amps. For instance, 50 watt Manley Stingray drives very well CS 3.6, I love the resultant transparent e...
Thiel Customer Service - New ownership is terrible!!! - WHAT HAPPENED TO THIS COMPANY ? There are two major points. Firstly, I think old Thiel speakers keep to beone of the best ones, in absolute terms. For instance, for my taste, Wilson Audio speakers, which cost is uncomparable to those of Thiel are no better - with apparently more...
Thiel speaker model range Both speakers CS6 and CS3.7 have similar skeletons, a single coax drive, a woofer and a passive radiator. Perhaps, the coherence has to do something with woofer/low frequencies, the more you have them, less coherent sound the speakers? So one ch...
Manley Stingray II German telefunken E 80 CC can be a good option. i am using them since 6 months or so without any problems. The originally supplied from Manley ECC81 were not so good (giving sometimes noise and are unstable). As to power section, I am using a ve...
Thiel speaker model range Thanks, and just one small complement: I had no chance to verify, but I may suggest that the recently rebuilt coaxes sound beter than the originally fabricated ones 15 years ago, as newer made pieces and perhaps somehow upgraded ones were used (I ... |
