Synth/Electronic LP recommendations
Since you are asking for Synth mainly,Check out the ' Broken Spindles' by Broken Spindles- The first electronic album from ' the Faint'. Very Kraftwerky, synth and bells, if you like synth the last track on this album will take your breath away. L...
Smooth treble
"You can also hear there is some warmth (paradoxically) in this loud, aggressive and metallic sound of the cymbals."Exactly. That is because in 'typical hifi' systems the aggressive treble (opposite of smooth and refined treble you talk about) ext...
Into 2009; What rules?? Tubes or Solid State
I will not be PC. Tubes give better overall realistic sound. I feel that I have 'wasted' many years sticking with high power (400+ watts) SS amps, recently the highly regarded MBL 9008A's. Now the 60-90 Watt tube amps produces that sounds more pow...
"Breathing" of the air
"Welcome to the Department of Redundancy Department"It is not redundancy, just a bit more intricate details to explore and connecting dots further. Thanks for clarifying anechoic definition..
"Breathing" of the air
Tom summarized is correctly. It is the medium displaced/excited in which sound is generated (vibrations generated by instruments)is what we hear. As a Kind of 'halo' around main notes- fundamentals and harmonics. Room acoustics is another entity t...

"Breathing" of the air
Bill, Have you thought about being a Pro writer? So much said in such little sentences. You will make more money that way ;-)
"Breathing" of the air
"..which is so evident in live music and rather difficult to reproduce properly at home, even with the "right" recordings."Absolutely agree with Detlof on this. This is one of the many key reasons Stereo systems will never sound like the real thin...
"Breathing" of the air
"BTW - added "air" from manipulation of the recording by the playback system or harmonic resonance or reverb etc. can be pleasant too. So more "air" can also be used to describe equipment that adds its own signature to the recording."Agree. I thin...
"Breathing" of the air
Chris,Great topic. I have wondered about the subject myself. A lot.My all Zanden system for one. Driving my Dunlvay Vs is almost perfect match. Almost always from top to bottom I can hear 'Air' around instruments and voices. Just like you would if...
zanden cd2500S
I have not heard the Zanden's new cdplayer but I do have the Zanden digital combo that I can provide opinion of. The sound should be comparable, however I expect the 2500s to be a bit less resolving(being less than half price, one would think, alth...
2 Acoustic Zen Silver Reference II IC's too much?
No. The Silver Ref II are world class ICs. They will reveal your weak link.
Can excellent tubes transcend modest amps?
No! Agree with Newbee and Bill.
1.0 or 1.5 m digital interconnect, does it matter?
Can this length be longer for a BALANCED digital cable? Say 3m or 4m?
Holographic imaging
I read my post again and thought few clarifications are called for. Tubes does give you the 3D sound stage but not artificially deep, wide or etched and 'holographic' the way term means to me.
