Why is the price of new tonearms so high
So it sounds like the dynamic balanced tone arms have always positive VTF due to 'preload' provided when record is spinning by the spring. As Raul indicated, dynamically balanced may not be exactly the right term (not 100% balanced at every slice ...
Why is the price of new tonearms so high
Wow, I am learning a lot in this thread about the arms and cart behavior. I am still not clear on static and dynamic balanced arm concept. Can anyone explain what are the differences. I am an engineer so I know what static and dynamic is, but in t...
Miss my Dunlavy Speakers, Were to go...
110% agreed with Brauser. I, too have pairs of I, II, IV and Vs and they are **irreplaceable**
Jadis musical value?
I had JOR, DPMC and CD3 for couple of years that I had bought used. Zero problems and yes indeed they deliver good musical value.
Sunday morning music...what's spinning?
Sat and Sunday mornings I listen to classical mostly - String Quartets. Harp or harpsicord based small ensamble and quietly played Piano or trio based music. ( Kids and wife still sleeping)
Clearaudio RCM good alternative to VPI?
Yes, Clearaudio is great. Does its job extremely well. Highly recommend double matrix though. A lot faster cleaning both sides. IMO, Clearaudio also looks the best. Great build quality.
"Frightening" or "Relaxing" sound quality?
Axel,Extremely well put!Nothing is 100% perfect. I would take more perfect 'most of the time' design. A- good- dancer- that -has- just- stumbled rationale would also be my take. Once again, pl accept my apologies.
"Frightening" or "Relaxing" sound quality?
Axel,Saying negative things about anyone on anything does not serve me. I just don't buy the idea of time and phase alignment speakers, by design, being a 'frightening' design. Scary good? Yes ;-), but frightening the way you put it? No. That is a...
"Frightening" or "Relaxing" sound quality?
Oh boy.Back to blaming the time alignment and phase alignment game again. Who is this speaker-designer-man of yours that says that? I am with Timtim for possible cause- the cross over design, the speaker quality itself and or most like the upstrea...
How can you tell if a recording is in mono?
Personally I hate mono and the early sixties ping pong stereo inspite of great music of the era - John Coltrane, Miles Davies, Sonny Rollins to name few.I stay away from any recordings prior to 1959 and early sixties. IOWS, anything recorded befor...
Serious Addiction to Gear
Us Audiophile bunch by definition is of addictive nature. The better the system gets more music you want to buy. And buy. And buy. You are constantly looking for you next 'fix'.
Good stores in LA
Bongo is spot on number 2,3,4 and 5, and his advice.
"Frightening" or "Relaxing" sound quality?
Axel, remember just the time or phase alignment is different than time, phase and 'pulse' alignment. I don't remember or have not reviewed this recently, But I do remember Mr Dunlavy saying the last 'pulse' alignment is extremely crucial to get th...
"Frightening" or "Relaxing" sound quality?
I think Axel is right in that about some speakers unnaturalness of certain details (electronic, staticky, far from true tone) that may contribute to 'frightening' effect. But I don't think the time, phase, pulse alignment is the cause. IMO, like ot...
