Low pass crossover setting & slope for Kappa 9?
Looking at the schematic, it would be easy to bypass the low-pass, wiring directly from the terminals to the woofers. Easily reversible. The high-pass can't be bypassed without digging into the PCB, which requires expertise. The low-pass is unusua...
Low pass crossover setting & slope for Kappa 9?
Don't bother with Infinity. Asked the same question 10 years ago for the kappa8's and they had no idea. I don't think Infinity ever published exact specs. Bill at MillerSound might know.Ask him if the 9's hi-pass/low-pass on the PCB can be bypassed.
Achieving audio system synergy
Synergy: When the whole is greater than the parts. Applied to electronics and audio, it's really more "silly gee whiz". A deep understanding of electronics is not required for this hobby but a good understanding of your goal will save a lot of agg...
Best speaker cable for Genesis speakers
I've been happy with Ultimate Cables Silver Series on G350's. Relatively inexpensive mix of milspec copper/silver/teflon from a boutique/garage project of Quebec engineer. Because the ribbons are purely resistive and don't rise in impedance/freque...
bi-am vs better monoblock?
Always thought Aragon was a good match for Kappas.
how to include the subwoofer?
Very good answers. The NHT X2 is surprisingly transparent for it's price and, in my case, cleaned up the crossover area. Beyond that, the difference it made was less than changing a single pair of cables.
"tube watts" versus "solid state watts"
It's not a tube vs transistor issue. I've had numerous amps all rated for 100W both tube and SS. Some sounded like kilowatts, some sounded like milliwatts. Some were just not a good match for certain speakers. Just trade-offs in the design/price. ...
Q's to ones can read Electronics Specs.
1. This is an isolation transformer for AC, not signals. Among it's purposes is to filter any frequencies beyond 60Hz, the opposite of "high end". The spec that matters is VA, which should be matched to combined amp draw of the components plugged ...

My passive preamp project – DIY vs Deep pocket
Should also point out that many sources double Vout when using XLR outputs and Zin can double as well with balanced inputs. Can be impractical for additional parts required, except with TVC.
My passive preamp project – DIY vs Deep pocket
http://diyaudio.co.kr/wwwboard1/data/board1/compare.pdfThe "series" I was referring to is not the same as the link but not worth getting into for your purpose.Usually, buffers are placed before passive, as demonstrated on the Burson website. Altho...
Help: Speakers to fill Exceptionallly Large Room?
Pro series, wall/ceiling mount line arrays from Toa fit your budget. Also, look at BG Radia. Both almost require a sub, like all wall mounts.

>>and impedance variation seems to be an important issue. What is that? I use a 50K pot in my project. and that Pass DIY B1 buffer what is that? <<Pots and ladder attenuators present a constant input impedance (Zin), varying by frequen...
My passive preamp project – DIY vs Deep pocket
Built a TVC using S&B 102's, when they were still available, and before the Promitheus made DIY seem cost ineffective. Was a lot of soldering but not nearly as bad as fitting 46 resistors on a 23 step attenuator. Didn't compare the attenuator/...
