Speakers For A Mini System I like the Epos speakers. Started with the 303 then moved up to the M5 and now the M5i. I'm quite pleased.I have the speakers on an open shelf where they are 6 inches from the back wall. No significant bass problem. I find them to be more neutral ...
BAT at CES? Are they coming out with a new integrated amp to replace the old series?
Does Wilson Sophia Sound good at low volumes? If I recall correctly you need to consider the Munson Fletcher effect hearing effect. At low volume levels bass is attenuated relative to the rest of the range. So a speaker with ideal laboratory response won't sound as good at low volume levels a...
Speaker Recommendations for Soundstage and Imaging I like Johnnyb53's suggestion. The Thiel will soundstage like few speakers I know in this price range. You owe it to yourself to listen to them even if you don't buy a pair. (I'm an Epos guy myself). Good luck --- please update us.
Simaudio CD-1 and i-1 combo I own th i-1, but am using an Arcam cd73T instead of the cd-1. I really like the i-1, as its detailed, transparent, with highs that aren't bright and the soundstage provides good placement. I think its a good buy in the price range. There have bee...
Wilson Sophia 2 vs Revel Salon2--fair comparison? Auditioning would be best, but absent that I would vote to buy the Revels. Why? It's their top of the line speaker---at the price your getting them at you're getting a speaker from a higher price and performance segment than the Wilson's.Secondly,...
Wilson's new speaker the Sasha is coming. Sdrenslow - I think the presentation is very well done. Wilson has put a lot of thought into the redesign. IMO progressive WATT/Puppy's have gotten more transparent and the bass has improved (flatter). With trickle-down technology improvements (mi...
Wilson's new speaker the Sasha is coming. Interesting point. Does anyone have sales #'s for the Mini and the V3?
Wilson's new speaker the Sasha is coming. Thanks Wsill. I tried to find the newsletter on their website but it seems the only way to get it is to become a subscriber. Can you post a link to it? thanks!
Wilson's new speaker the Sasha is coming. I went to the website and I don't see anything more than what had been up for the past few weeks. I want to see her full figure."...Have you seen her? Oh tell me have you seen her." from some 70's song.
ARCAM + WILSON Sophia review Musicwave- congratulations on your new rig. Happy to hear you've made a big improvement by changing the speakers. The Sophia is a revealing speaker, so when the day comes that you think about making an upgrade, changing the int amp will present ma...
Name your favorite sax solo. How about this one: there's a wild long solo on a song on Don Ellis:Live at the Filmore. I don't recall the song's name but it was wild and loose as was the whole concert that night. Those who know Don Ellis will know what I mean. Sorry I don't ha...
Top Jazz Albums of 2008 This is a good thread! For those who haven't seen it please buy the latest DownBeat magazine issue as it has their annual review of highest rated cd's. It covers both new 2008 releases and historical ones. food for thought and a respected source f...
Need $1500 integrated amplification suggestions... solid state will sound different than vacuum tubes. I own the SIM i-1 integrated amplifier and can recommend it. Read the reviews to see if you're interested in auditioning it. I found that, unlike tubes, I didn't have to "baby" it; rather you can...
What is the one CD you can't find? Two come to mind:1) Woody Herman: Children of Lima (originally lp) The arrangement of 25 or 6 to 4 is brilliant.2) Pat Williams: Threshold (originally lp) great jazz big band |
