Are 500 hours too many for a used hi-end cartridge?
I have been fortunate buying used cartridges, and I have done so. But the way I look at it I want to buy a cartridge that is above a certain level where it makes the idea of retipping an economic possibility. My opinion is this. Cartridge manufact...
Have a U-Turn turntable with Ortofon 2M Red cartridge. Upgrade cartridge or turntable???
I am not a fan of the U-Turn table, but I am not sure I would go for a Music Hall either. There isn't anything about it that stands out that defines it as a quality turntable. Personally? I would find a nice demo, open box, or even pre owned Rega ...

@Ace17Sure I will give it a shot. I will send a PM.

@fastfreightI am on board with you regarding the pre and the DAC. The DAC did not work well for me at all, and I preferred my trusty old Audio Magic DAC to it with redbook by a country mile. Funny thing is I have yet to find a meaningful replaceme...
Orosonic/Monster Cable Reflex Record Clamp
I have always found the issue with record clamps to be is that they cannot apply pressure across the record evenly. They clamp the inside of the record just fine, but do very little for coupling the edges. Record weights have the same problem, and...
Audiomods Tonearm.....
I have put the Series Six on a SOTA Cosmos and a Brinkmann Bardo, it is a very nice arm for either table. Used an Ortofon A90 and ZYX 4D which had MSRP of $4K when first offered. They are still pretty capable cartridges, and the Model Six works ve...
What should my next cartridge be?
Hard to go wrong with the Dynavector 17D series. The new 17DX is getting a bit spendy, but reported to be a fine fine cartridge.
Direct Drive vs. Idler Drive vs. Belt drive
@ mijostyn Well the table that gets the most hours currently is the Brinkmann with Audiomods Series Six arm, which I use for more casual listening. This is primarily based on the Ortofon A90, which is the cartridge I have that I am most willing ...

Cabling is the bane of my existence! Last night I took the time to reinstall the VH Audio Spectrum CU interconnects within the system, and results were positive. This morning I reinstalled the Siemens 6922 pre driver tubes, as the Spectrum are a m...

OK equipment rack is on the long wall, its a Salamander Geneva credenza, weighs about 130 pounds itself, and is needed to hold three turntables on top. Speakers are on the short wall, and they are JBL 4375, weigh about 190 pounds each. There is a ...

@decooney The only other consideration I got is speaker wire. Use Wireworld Eclipse Series 8. But need an 8 meter run so thats not a cheap test as I cannot find a run of that length on the used market
Considering A SS amplifier
@millercarbonI have owned plenty of tube amps and pre amps over my 30÷ years in this hobby. Spent a decade enjoying SET based systems. I find tubes no longer speak ro me in terms of how I enjoy music. My preference. Of course speakers define what ...

So far I have used it with the matching BHK Signature pre amp, along with one from Edge, and a passive from Placette Audio. So far I prefer tbe Halcro. Also ran a dozen tube chouces through it and the Telwfunken work best. Cables from Wireworld, T...
Direct Drive vs. Idler Drive vs. Belt drive
"I did different thing and it’s not just about mass, because the SP-10 MKII does not have additional layer of the different material on top surface of platter as mk 3 model so i just used Micro Seiku CU-500 to upgrade it.As the result, the platter...
Direct Drive vs. Idler Drive vs. Belt drive
Why you did that ? You could just add Micro Seiki CU-500 gunmetal mat on top (perfectly matched). Here is mine. The weight of CU-500 is 2.7kg and it's 5mm thickness. That was huge upgrade for my stock SP-10 mkII.When you're using not original pa...
