Cartridge Upgrade for Rega P-25 Table
Hi Jperry,I know that there are some that will disagree with this, but I think that the P7 is the sweet spot of the Rega line-you get 85-90% of the performance of the P9 at half the price. I find that it is a significantly better table than the P5...
Cartridge Upgrade for Rega P-25 Table
I upgraded from a P25 to a P7 and have never looked back. The P25 is a very nice table; but it is essentially an upgraded P3. You could upgrade the P25 motor and add a TT-PSU, but then you still have a P25. The Rega 7s you've seen are probably not...
Cartridge Upgrade for Rega P-25 Table
Jperry,If you live in the US you can't get the Heed power supply-at one time it was sold in the US, but not anymore.
Why does my system sound so shrill and distorted?
I would love to know what you think of the Musical Fidelity M1, I've been using their kWPhono with great results so I would think that the M1 would be a great product.
PHONO STAGE FOR REGA RP1 or RP3
First of all a phono stage is all about the cartridge one is planning to use and has little to do with the turntable one is using. The Regas you mention are considered budget tables (very nice ones I might add) so if you are planning to stay in th...
Cartridge Upgrade for Rega P-25 Table
You can't use the TT-PSU Rega power supply on the P25 unless you first upgrade the motor to the newer 24v that Rega offers.
Choices, turntable purchase choices?
Well done Les, I think you will enjoy the Rega-really nice turntable. Congratulations and welcome to the world of Rega.
Problem with turntable/cartridge?
The Rega P25 comes stock with an RB600 not the RB300 as Manitunc suggests. In either case the RB600 still does not come with adjustible VTL. I don't know the cartridge height of the Benz cartridge you mentioned, but unless there is a gross differe...
How do you tame a Denon DL-S1?
I am using a Musical Fidelity kW Phono with a DL-S1 with great success. I currently have mine loaded at 100R. I have tried 10R, 50R, 200R and 1000R but keep coming back to 100R. This is a very fine cartridge and needs a quiet and neutral phono sta...
Choice Rega P5 or VPI Scout?
Another option, if you don't mind buying used, is a Rega P7-I bought a very nice used one that was within your price range. IMHO the P7 is the sweet spot in the Rega range and is a really fine music player.
upgrade or replace rega planar 3
I agree with Dayglow-the P7 is a significant upgrade over the P5. A nice used P7 will run around $1600. The P7 includes the TT PSU, the bearing assembly and sub-platter from the P9, and a model specific ceramic platter. It's a great table.
upgrade or replace rega planar 3
I would calculate the costs of the upgrades vs the cost of a new table minus the sale of your Planar 3. Inna's comments aside, Rega builds very nice turntables-so the Planar 3 may indeed be worthy of an upgrade, especially since you have already u...
Rega P5 vs RP6 purchasing dilemma
Vortex, I don't own a P5, but I do own a P7 and have had both a P25 and a Plannar 3, and I can say without hesitation that Rega's products are well made; cheap is not a word I would use to describe Rega's turntables.
Using Test LP - curious observations
Dougdeacon, yes you are correct, the kW phono stage is quieter by a large margin (not even comparable) over my previous phono stage.
Using Test LP - curious observations
I didn't mean to suggest that a better phono pre-amp would fix anti-skating issues-sorry if that was the impression I left. I was just passing along my observation that the distortion produced by the tone generated on bands 6-9 were mostly caused ...
