Cabinet clearance for Audio Acoustics LS16 tube pre-amp?
I can put it on the top shelf, with nothing above it. I don't want to but I can. I find it irritating that Audio Research did not give more specifics in regard to placement. I'd be willing to measure temps if I needed to for equipment this expensi...
Cabinet clearance for Audio Acoustics LS16 tube pre-amp?
Cabinet is probably not the best term for what I'm building. It is shelves. Open in the front. No doors. There will be 3-4" clearance above the unit. Vent holes below it and a good 8 inches of clear space on either side of it.
Drink of choice for serious listening?
Tonight: Lagavulin 16. I like it but not sure I like it any better than their 12. The 16 is just as peaty but with a softer edge. I kind of like the edge. I find it similar but maybe less full-bodied than Caol Ila 12 which is probably my favorite ...
Questions about Node 2i
Is there any benefit to hardwiring the Node to my router (ethernet?)
Cabinet clearance for Audio Acoustics LS16 tube pre-amp?
The amp manual recommends 2'-3" of clearance. I'll allow for more for both components. And even though these shelves will be closed in the back and on the ends there will be lots of space around each component. The LS-16 pre amp does have grill on...
Whats playing on your system today?
Blue Mountian - Dog Says. From the 1990's. Brief but quality career in my opinion. If you like roots rock give them a listen.
Cabinet clearance for Audio Acoustics LS16 tube pre-amp?
Thanks. My shelves will be open front and there will be vent holes under the amp and pre-amp as well.I think the pre gets great air flow sitting on top the way it is now but I'm also sure it gets a fair share of dust (and dog hair) too.

Don't know why I wrote "Audio Acoustics" in the title. It is an Audio Research of course.
Questions about Node 2i
So then it should not be any problem to run ripped CDs through my newest iMac wirelessly. That's good and solves a number of problems. I won't even need an external HD.
Questions about Node 2i
Thanks guys. Good info. So far I’ve never heard anything played via BlueTooth that sounded good to me and that was true even before I got into hi-fi. Not sure how this newer version changes things in regard to the Node 2i but it certainly doesn’t ...
The best music in 2018
I only knew of Alejandro Escovedo by his song Castanets. Awesome song. And to be honest, when I heard how bad his health was years ago I assumed he had passed away. Thanks for the reference. I'll spend some time with some of his newer stuff.
What is wrong with Audiogon Forums?
I just wish they could get the "@" function to work if that is going to be best way to handle that sort of thing. About half the time the drop down list does not include resent responders even if I type in their name. The 'quote' function does not...
Fixing your cable problems forever.
Some of the speaker kits are designed by professionals. Meticulously in fact. And this is often reflected in the price of the kit. But as mentioned above, making your own speakers and cables is not just a way of acquiring gear. Some people, like m...
Whats on your turntable tonight?
My parents had agreed to let me go out of town to Greensboro to see Led Zep about 2 months before Bonzo died. I was 17. Of course that show never happened. Hate that I missed that opportunity.
Audiophile x 5 months.
Once I get my built in cabinets done I may purchase a basic U-Turn TT. I still have a few albums I like to listen to. It might not be any better than the Sony but the Sony is starting to make a mechanical hum and the dust cover is broken.I'll cont...
