Non-audiophile needs help with older system. Update: Against advice I bought a cheap-o phono pre-amp so I could run my turntable which is old and nothing great with thin and built-in RCA cables. I figured the cheap pre-amp would about match the TT.It did not. It was pathetic. Low volume comp...
Cable Burn In The RCA cables I bought (the ones on which this thread is based) are also directional. They have a tag on them for the source end. I did not notice this when I ordered them.
Cable Burn In Okay, I am open to it. And I think we are generally in agreement. Its just that for me the point is moot from a practical standpoint and my openness to the idea doesn't change that. What I was pointing out was that you said: " If you believe that ...

New to HiFi, need digital advice. Ah, that link helps. I'll need some time to study it.

New to HiFi, need digital advice. lowrider, thanks for the clarification. I'll check it out when I get home.I do not have any sort of USB setup or DAC at this point. I'm just exploring options and seeing what I can get away with on the cheap.I've probably got 20 CDs 'ripped' but j...
Cable Burn In lowrider57 said:" N80, you stated that you are new to the audiophile world. So, shouldn't you approach the subject of burn-in or run-in with an open mind?"Yes. And I will. And to be clear, I have not stated that it isn't real. I've only pointed o...
Speaker spike feet? The OEM spikes from Aerial Acoustics are $100. I think I will pass on those and try one of the alternatives you guys have suggested. |
