The two stages of audiophilia Stage 2: enlightenment. After almost 50 years, I've hit stage 2 after downsizing from separates and big Maggies to a nice class D integrated and standmounts. Still enjoying vinyl, optical disks and streaming.Didn't see it coming and it's so nice!
Question on Denon DL-103 retipping options and preferences I just googled: Andy Kim needle clinic Bellevue, Washington and the business shows up as "permanently closed".Is he still working on cartridges somewhere? Thanks
and 30 min later.... Thanks MC!The era when I became an avid listener, on AM radio and LP's, kicked in, in late 63.Great to know the chronology of the hits...slightly different than I recall.Checking out the 70's next!
One box do it all I’ve never heard one, but PS Audio makes an integrated with a DAC & Streamer for $2999.It’s called the Stellar Strata.https://www.psaudio.com/products/stellar-strata/100wpc @ 8 ohms, digital, analog & balanced inputs...I saw a used one go ...
One box do it all +1 on Parasound NewClassic 200 integrated. I sold my separates and got this last Spring and don't miss them one bit.Great SQ... clean, musical and nicely resolved output with power for most speakers out there. The phono stage holds it's own against...
What is wrong with my system? Do you have some headphones to try?Headphone outputs are usually coming from the preamp...so you can rule it out if the headphones sound great.... leaving the amp & speakers as suspects.
I feel bad for GenX'ers that missed out on the 60s and 70s. Boomer here.Yes I regularly went to concerts, relatively cheaply, including The Who, Led Zeppelin, Jethro Tull, Jimi Hendrix, The Beach Boys, Buddy Guy, Pink Floyd, Albert Collins, Jefferson Airplane, Alice Cooper, Cream, Janis Joplin, The Tempta...
Who is ditching their shiny disc spinners? troutki5040, please let us know how it sounds.I've got the 1st pressing, 2 different mofi LPs and a mofi CD, so I tried to resist buying the new DSOTM SACD.... but I'm sure I only succeeded in putting it off for a day or two.
$2000.00 to spend on new speakers. Sounds like a good deal!Let us know your impressions?
Whats on your turntable tonight? Mommothguy54, I'm usually skeptical of newer re-mastered releases. But on your recommendation, I'll look for it.Thanks
Whats on your turntable tonight? Listened to Paul Simon's "Graceland" on Amazon Music in "Ultra HD". It's a great album and it sounded nice, but the varied instruments and even Paul's voice lacked the live presence that I recalled.Put the 1st pressing of the same album that I bou...
Thinking of adding a sub---maybe not? There’s a difference between bass punch and sub bass.Your Lore reference should be able to provide bass, but room acoustics and placement can effect the amount of bass they provide. The sub creates the lowest frequencies, greatly contributing to re...
WHAT SONG TOUCHES YOUR HEART THE MOST? Joni Mitchell's "Wish I had a River"Joni Mitchell's "The last time I saw Richard"Johnny Cash covering "Hurt"...The music video adds to understanding his take on it.
Recommendations for speakers that sound great at lower volume levels. Cakyol, thanks! Can't believe no one else mentioned that. The human ear simply does not hear higher and lower frequencies as well as the mid range at lower volumes.A speaker would have to be far from flat to sound great at low volumes and would soun...
Best Integrated Amp (for me) The Parasound NewClassic 200 Integrated is really nice. I got one 2 months ago and have now sold off my preamp and power amp....no regrets. Its very musical, outputs a clean 110 wpc @ 8 ohms, mm/mc phonostage, bass management, a good burr-brown DAC... |
