Is OPPO losing it's way?
I guess, but you can see the road that leads down.  Maybe someday they'll make a $4000 player that sounds as good as a $6000 player.  It's leaving their original $500 customers in the dust.  They sell great products, just not in the sub $1000 rang...
Mockery of Audiophiles
Am I the only one who can see the dates on the posts?
Is OPPO losing it's way?
I've been thinking about the original question of this thread, "Is Oppo losing it's way?".  I don't think they have lost their way because they still make good products, but I miss the days of the BDP-83 when their top tier product cost $500 and y...
Is OPPO losing it's way?
I second oddiofyl.  The 103 is best with an external dac and makes a great streamer. If you like Pandora on the 103, give Tidal a try.
Has anyone tried Blue Jeans Cable LC-1 RCA IC?
Good call on the Silver Solids, that actually is what I am using. They are an amazing value but also expensive compared to the Blue Jeans cables. I didn’t want to call them out by name, but they sound better than anything else I have tried. Probab...
Has anyone tried Blue Jeans Cable LC-1 RCA IC?
I used to use a lot of Blue Jeans LC-1s, but have swapped most of the critical ones out for silver IC’s. I think of the LC-1 as an above average IC that does no harm and has good detail thanks to the low capacitance. It is very good for long runs ...
What do audiophiles want from a cable?
I think the crux of my question is, am I a good audiophile?  Am I judging cables the right way.  I'm entirely focused on accuracy but not on how they make instruments sound, does a piano sound like a piano, or would I rather have it sound like a p...
Tube for a Noob ???
I vote for a tube line stage and not a tube CD or phono stage. Too limiting to a single source. Most people expect a tubed line-stage (preamp) to be placed after the surround sound processor and use a home theater bypass built into that pre, but i...
Your first component that was "special"
I second mizike, it was Knowledge.  Which led to better speaker placement, then a multibit external dac for digital, a tube stage in the chain with the right tubes, an amp that was a good match for my speakers, the right interconnects, proper sett...
Lightspeed Attenuator - Best Preamp Ever?
Hey George, yeah the iFi just hasn't done much for my Lightspeed in my system. I feel like my system is resolving enough to pick out a bad recording pretty easily and to hear differences in cables, but I just couldn't spot the changes from this ul...
Lightspeed Attenuator - Best Preamp Ever?
I’ve been using the Lightspeed for several months now. I purchased the dual volume control version to solve a balance problem in my room. It works great and is as transparent as advertised. I compared it to 2 other passive pre amps that I own, a S...
Essential Blues/ jazz
The long list from rrsands is just amazing, especially for Tidal users like myself. Not only has the list helped expand my exposure to jazz, the sound quality of those albums that are available on Tidal is excellent, and most are available. I don’...
Single ended vs xlr balanced
I own an amp that is not truly balanced, but does have both XLR and single ended inputs. The manufacturer recommends the XLR inputs. After listening to both using 1m length cables, it was obvious the balanced inputs sounded better by a wide margin...
