Has anyone made the jump to $uper High end and were disappointed? I think the only thing I would regret paying for, if I had unlimited money, and spent it on audio equipment, would be music servers. I cannot conceive of a way for a computer system with ethernet and USB to cost over $10,000. Probably not over $50...
Who thinks $5K speaker cable really better than generic 14AWG cable? Same here. I used to use the blue jeans interconnects but really did find that better interconnects made a difference when it comes to RCA and XLR, so I no longer use them. I still like the cost-effectiveness of the company, but could hear the d...
Is using streaming services worthy of an audiophile? Another great, and completely free streaming option is the HiDef Radio app for iPhone. Probably available on android. And i think you can just use their website now. Download it and search for the jazzgroove.org channel (if you like that kind of ...
Is using streaming services worthy of an audiophile? I love Tidal. I stream their jazz collection through my Oppo BDP 103 into my DAC and it is wonderful. So many good albums and so fun to search for the really good sounding ones. Multibit dac.
Who thinks $5K speaker cable really better than generic 14AWG cable? Hi Todd, I'm not familiar with that musician, sorry. I also don't know what the fruk a frequemcy is - apologies for lack of proof reading on my part.
Who thinks $5K speaker cable really better than generic 14AWG cable? The truth of the debate is hinted at by people who say cables sound different from one system to the next, from one room to the next. That no two setups are the same, thus the differing opinions. But the underlying fundamental truth is that cable...
Need help ... I think you have it covered. How does it sound?
Whats playing on your system today? Follow that up with Someday My Prince Will Come. Miles Davis track 2 Old Folks and you are in heaven.
Whats playing on your system today? Ready for Freddie. Track 2. Nothin better.
How often is your system "good"? Power supply is definitely my biggest factor. Turning off ceiling fans and other power suckers in the house makes for the best listening experience.
How often is your system "good"? Hi cymbop, not me sorry. I agree with what you're saying about mindset though, and I also believe there are human physical variables that make some days better than others. The human ears play a big part in a good listening session. Some days...
Evaluating a system - what do you listen for? At this point in my hi-fi journey, the best system is the one that reveals the talent of the musicians and the instruments they play. When I consider upgrading my system, I want new components that will reveal more of what the musicians are holdi...
New Component Upgrade Success Rate I think I just like my existing sound too much to change it.
Different gain on 2 amps. The Schiit Sys is a nice passive volume control, but a Lightspeed attenuator is more transparent. Shameless plug for George who makes them, but I've tried both and if you need to lower volume in your main system you want something better than a S...
New Component Upgrade Success Rate Thanks Dave, I think I have everything you mentioned nailed. Especially quality of research. That's the funny thing, I'm frequently disappointed in how the new components really sound compared to the glowing reviews I read. Of course everything ... |
