USB to DAC questions Djembeplay, yeah sounds like you're well on your way to a full blown outbreak of "the disease", lol. Anyway as mentioned you really do need to listen and figure out over time what it is that you like and go forward from there. Your proposed setup ...
USB to DAC questions Another Paradisea+ owner here. I do not have the USB version however. Currently just have it connected to the CD player via coax. Leaning towards the Trends UD-10 with the battery pack for connecting to the computer. An Acer running Windows Vista....
Whatever happened to Straight Wire? Platinum is extremely resistant to oxidation and to corrosion, and a very good conductor of electricity. What this does for your audio cable that cheaper metals don't is up for debate.
What Gauge of Wire...? Depends how long the runs of speaker wire are. 12 gauge should suffice. If you can keep them short enough 14 shouldn't be an issue.
Digital Out vs. USB Trends UD-10 should also be considered as a highly regarded inexpensive "USB audio converter". It also has a battery charger kit option. http://www.trendsaudio.com/EN/Product/USB_Audio_desc.htm
APC Smart-UPS 1500 This is a true sine wave unit and could certainly be used in an audio setup. Who cares if it's meant for computers. It should still provide some "power conditioning", along with the crappy mov surge "protection". You also get the benefit of a batt...
Most helpful audio companies Some direct Internet manufacturers will top lists for many people. Namely MLS and company at AV123.com, Mike D and ACI, Rick Craig of Selah Audio, among others.

Best budget CDP? Oppo plus DAC may be the way to go. I'd hesitate to pay too much, or mod something like a DVD player that you may want to upgrade before you've really got your investment back. Personally I'm moving to using the computer as a transport with a Para...
RECOMMEDATIONS FOR AC RECEPTACLE I've researched this very subject quite extensively lately and my choice was the Furutech FP-15A(Cu)-N1. Obviously this is a 15amp version, you I would hope went with 20A. Second choice would be the Oyaide, probably the gold GX or maybe XXX. Those...
Help me choose a power conditioner, please http://www.6moons.com/audioreviews/furutech2/1.htmlFurutech e-TP80 & BPT CPC in one accurate review. Deepsix that Monster before it takes something down with it. You should also take a look at the Powervar units the 12amp models sell here for ...
Blinking red light inside my Proceed AVP2 Probably normal, but you may want to post that over on AVS in the "Best Sounding Pre/Pros" thread that talks a lot about the AVP2. Some owners on there.
Power conditioners Take a look at PS Audio's Duet or Quintet products. Here's a good read from their website: http://www.psaudio.com/products/quintetmoreinfo.asp.
Help needed on a solid state amp?? I'd go with the Plinius form what I've heard and read. I've seen some negative opinions of Krell not many on Plinius.
Best component cables silver or copper Not sure what a "telecine" facility is but usually proshops are in it for the money and aren't gonna waste capital on cables. They'll simply buy from whoever their supplier is. Do you think they really worry about all that mass market quality medi... |
