Owners of speakers by obscure companies chime in
I'll toss in Selah Audio. Haven't really seen anything on them beyond their website and forum over at AudioCircle... they've shown at a few shows like RMAF. I have the Tanzanites, S7's, Sardonyx center, and Whomp sub. These are currently setup hap...
American made Subwoofer
I don't know if you're going to find a 100% American made sub in this day and age. My Selah Audio comes pretty close. Built in NC, using an amp from Texas, but the Peerless woofer is a foreigner.
What's the best power conditioner
Haven't tried the Nordost, but the Furman IT ref units are very good. I have the Transparent Powerlink Ultra, even have my amp plugged into it with no sound degradation. As noted YMMV as these are seem to be system dependent products. BTW my unit ...
Any balanced one end/rca the other interconnects?
As has been mentioned already most cable manufacturers will make them for you... and you won't get any real benefit from doing this beyond just using straight RCA cables... and no don't use adapters unless you HAVE to. The more connections you mak...
Windows PC to USB DAC. How do you do it ?
And some individuals are more sensitive to marketing hype than others. ;)
Windows PC to USB DAC. How do you do it ?
Seen perhaps, but this is audio. Can it be heard? I still doubt spending 185 times the going rate for a cable is necessary. Again YMMV, as may your desire to waste money.
Windows PC to USB DAC. How do you do it ?
Or if you're not a dealer... YMMV.
Windows PC to USB DAC. How do you do it ?
$369 for a USB cable? That's absurd.
Computer output to DAC, which route?
I use dBpoweramp for ripping and media monkey for playback. With Windows Vista, which I have, or a MAC you have no need for the ASIO driver anymore. That was a kernel mixer workaround for older versions of Windows. A relatively cheap converter lik...
What Subwoofer is the best bang for the buck?
According to the big subwoofer shootout thread over at AVS AV123's new MFW-15 or the Epik Castle would appear to be better values than several other worthy choices, espcially considering the $600 MFW-15 lands a couple rungs higher than the $5000 V...
Will a Power Conditioner Help?
In what way? Obviously it won't give you more power, in some cases it will give you less. The above response works assuming you had outlets to plug the conditioners into. Alternatively a more expensive PC can do the isolating in one box, but as no...
YOUR Favorite Bookshelf/Monitor below $500
http://www.audiocircle.com/circles/index.php?topic=49151.0Demo pair for $325, direct they go for $595. May want to ask Rick if these are still available. Not sure you'll find anything in this class that will go very low.
Decco from Preachtree audio
I'm seriously considering picking one up to compare to my Paradisea Dac/Nuforce processor combo. DAC isn't USB so I could also add in a Trends UD10.1 (or similar) to my current combo as well. I'd be money ahead selling the two and foregoing the Tr...
DAC or new player ?
DAC with computer as a transport. The Paradisea from MHDT Labs sells for under $500, nice tube buffer DAC. I'll probably never buy another CD player.
Who has the best plasma monitor these days
No, at this point in time plasma is still preferred over LCD. Sure LCD has its good points as does plasma, but its still plasma for me. Do some more research and you should reach the same conclusion I did.
