Is It Time To Sell My Vinyl Rig?
@goofyfoot If you feel that strongly right now about the vinyl gestalt, you might sell just the turntable and phono section but KEEP THE VINYL. 200 LPs won't take up that much space. Just box well and keep in storage. Later if you decide to get ba...
REL subs with Acoustat 1+1s?
@audiorustyYep! They're on the list! The potential bonus is that as my current RHL is 10" and seems to move plenty of air, I may only NEED one. Thanks again!Happy listening
REL subs with Acoustat 1+1s?
High pass filter. That's the term I was looking for! Yes the RHL sub does have that as it is fed from the amp then the panels are fed from the sub after the lower frequencies are filtered out. What's nice about that arrangement is that the ESLs ar...
If you don't have a wide sweet spot, are you really an audiophile?
Hmmm... When I sit in the narrow sweetspot that I have and really listen, I’m thinking that what I’m hearing is what the producer wanted me to hear when they mastered the recording with reference to sound stage. Whether the sonic picture is narrow...
Check in: How quickly are streamers and servers evolving?
Just a small note here: None of the high-zoot hardware that folks are talking about will matter very much unless the source material has been created with the appropriate fidelity. "Garbage in, garbage out." It's analogous to television: What good...
What makes speaker's sound big?
@martin-andersenWhat do you mean by "better integrated" bass? Again I harp on "requirements": Can you give us some more info pls? Do you not have enough? Too much? Perhaps you have a nasty bump in the frequency response someplace and it's boomy? O...
Equal $$ for Phono OR Streaming?
@ hilde45I've been watching this thread with some amusement. Being in software for almost 40 years (Cripes I'm old!) I can tell you that unless one has complete requirements, including details on what the current environment is, ANY solution will ...
Do different streamers really sound different when using an external DAC
@jjss49 Silly me! Yes, total reading comprehension fail on my part. I only got it exactly backwards. LOL"Never mind." - Emily LatellaHappy listening.
Do different streamers really sound different when using an external DAC
In answer to your question "Do different streamers really sound different when using an external DAC?", in my meager experience the answer is 'yes'.I went from using the Node2i internal DAC to an external Jolida DAC and now a Border Patrol SE-i DA...
Are your current amps and other gear the best you've ever had?
Fun thread for a change. I would say ’yes’. Some things I don’t see worth changing for now. Then again, I’ve made a lot of changes the past couple of years and, so far, I haven’t made any missteps. *knock wood*Acoustat 1+1sRHLabs sub+ARC VS110+ARC...
For those that use an external DAC with node 2i
My first exposure to steaming was a simple BT receiver which went to my pre and I just streamed Pandora and iTunes from my phone. Not the best sound of course but I was hooked by the convenience. So I upgraded to a Node2i and really enjoyed the up...
Sonus Faber speaker boxes worth $1200 ?
Seems a bit... dear. As others have suggested: Check with an SF dealer. FWIW I still have the boxes for all my gear including my Acoustat 1+1's. IMHO, nothing will protect your investment like original packing. Which reminds me I need to get boxes...
Looking for a ‘’No braine’r Integrated amplifier under 7500 or so
Two words: Speakers first!More words... Everything thing else will hinge on that. Amp, sources, etc. IMHO you cannot make a wise decision on an amplifier, integrate or otherwise until you know what speakers you will be using. Enjoy the hunt.Happy ...
Building new system starting with power amp. What would you choose ?
IMHO speakers have the most influence in the overall sound and character of a system. If you’re already set on your source (RTR) then speakers logically would be the next step. Pick your "sound" and THEN get the requisite electronics. Bookshelf or...
Craigslist Fraud
To the OP: Well done for not falling for that!
