Upgrading my system Those are two excellent speaker choices to think about. I never suggest less $ but am still deadly curious to hear the Golden Ear BRX stand-mounted speakers. Much cheaper but supposed to be rather nice; I've like some of their floor-standers.
T+A Criterion T100 Speakers That is great to hear. I'm always worried when companies try and do to much but T&A has a good reputation for their electronics and I'd suspect you made a decent speaker buy with those. Have fun!
Best light weight full range speaker recommendation. I'm not much on 'modern' or 'contemporary' art so much so horns are pretty much out for me esthetically. I have heard some nice sounds come out of some too. For a small room full range down to 31hz with lovely sound, I am still happy with Raidho ...
Headphones vs full range speakers russ69 has it 100% :-) I totally concur.
Next upgrade? @ghdprentice makes many good points, as usual. I also think you have a nice system and would enjoy it for a while, while working on room acoustics, inexpensive tweaks to assist even more. Like many, I think the Prima Luna is the strongest item r...
Does Time alignment and Phase coherency make for a better loudspeaker? I well-remember the magic of listening to Dunlavy's in Colorado Springs years ago in The Sound Shop, at a friend's home with IVs, and listening with John Dunlavy and meeting him (a wild guy) in his CS facility. They were very special but a tiny ma...
World's Best Speakers For 2021 ? I have heard many of his other designs with Raidho, and his smaller Borresen B designs, but I haven't yet heard Michel Borresen's new B05. I would fully expect it to compete with the very best in the world today.
Have you moved away from full range to standmount speakers + subs? If room size was not an issue and large enough, I'd have full size speakers (and probably still augmented with multiple subs). Generally speaking, a big speaker simply sounds bigger to me most of the time; there are well-designed exceptions. But ...
Positioning full range electrostatic speakers I used the ML SL3 hybrids as my mains from 95 to 11 and they sounded far bettter at 6 ft from the front wall instead of 2-3 feet (where I started unknowlingly). I always ran short cables as well. I still have my more conventional speakers' tweete...
If a " system " cannot do this, I move on........ Chuckle at the above... I think the immediacy seekers are drawn to horns for their in-your-face general presentation, at least IMO after a lot of years hearing lots of them. I do agree that some can be great but I tend to walk away from the semi-...
Smallish room speakers For now I'd stay with your LS50 and SVS 1000Pro combination and work to position it the best that you can. Sometimes a little digital equalization can help a lot. I have 3 sealed SVS subs & 2 RELs. Both are good. Your SVS is great for those sp...
How do you listen? Interesting question. With a decent setup in an 8ft near-field triangle and non-fatiguing equipment, (C-weighted), low to mid 80s dB avg and highs in upper 80s, sometimes low 90s. It is so clean I wish it had more dynamics (must high-pass mains!).
Speaker Decision Paralysis (for large volume loft space) Thoughts. 1) Conventional box speakers, better dispersion in a large space. 2) Softer trebled speaker based on room. (Huge congrats on an art-based room; it's what I have and I understand, no goofy treatments, so...)3) Some/any type of go...
Are Bowers and Wilkins speakers overpriced? I do not believe B&W are overpriced for what they have to offer. I have auditioned B&W since the early 90s, hearing plenty of the 800 diamond series over the years. I still own some little old 302s.I seriously considered the 802D or 800Ds ...
Who are the Stand Up Guy's and Gals in this Audio Industry? I think it's great to see a list so long of great individuals involved in our hobby as manufacturers or retailers. It says something positive.A personal shout-out for Jeff Rowland, a true gentleman and devoted to his craft. I have nothing but resp... |
