Most resolving, transparent amps. To answer your question, Bubul57, absolutely great recordings sound better on highly resolving systems.
When is digital going to get the soul of music? Detlof, You have earned your place in the top sixteen. :)
When is digital going to get the soul of music? Mmakshak, who is Alex?
Most resolving, transparent amps. Tvad, poor sounding CDs are few and far between in my experience. It is nothing to sweat about. What I love is when listeners come in and say, "Let's see what this really bad disc sounds like on this system. When it sounds more horrible than they ...
Most resolving, transparent amps. Tubegroover, I am a very happy owner of two pairs of Apogee Scintillas, the hardest speakers to drive in the world. I have class D monos servicing these babies, and I can't imagine any SS amp approaching these class D amps in bringing the real out...
oversampling vs. non-oversampling - what's the dif To answer your question Shazam, there is no free lunch when it comes to great sounds. My gear has been highly enhanced by a genius audio electronics expert. It has been a long and complicated process, not to mention a turn of luck. As for new NOS ...
oversampling vs. non-oversampling - what's the dif On my system, wire changes cause major shifts in presentation. That said, OS and NOS differences, being active, exhibit night and day differences. One visiting fellow, interested in buying my second pair of Scintillas, wrote me afterwards, "Listen...
What's better than the Jolida JD100 I owned the JD 100 for long enough to know it does not sound all that great until you fit the almost non-existent Sylvania 5751 black gates into them. That change really lifts the CD player up into a higher playing field. That said, unless Jolida ...

Speaker Cables...Opinions.... I agree with Koegz. If you have monos, back them close to your speaker terminals, and use ribbons. You needn't use silver. Copper sounds great. The cost should be below $25 a pair. No commercial wire will surpass a short wide thin ribbon.
Amp Designs That Are Able To Drive 4/2 Ohms Load Starcon, and what class A or class AB are you touting to be superior to class D amps in general, and the large power supply loaded H2O in particular? With the help of it's stable mate, the Fire, this duo can power my 1 ohm speakers with ease, deli...
how good are the non os dacs? I am fence sitting right now. Though some of the detractors don't care for it, the TD A1545A chip is OK with me. It is the asynchronous reclocking that gives me pause. Some folks well learned in electronics theory don't give this type of clocking ...
how good are the non os dacs? I changed my mind about the Promethius. Upon studying the board, and correlating research in DIY forums, I would be very wary of this DAC. I may still consider buying it, but there will have to be some more positive reading in the future.
how good are the non os dacs? Alex, there is nothing smeared nor lush about my system sound. Layers of detailed sound are carried riding on a supremely musical sound. My highs cannot get any more airy. My DAC is a one of a kind built on an Audio Note circuit board.
how good are the non os dacs? I disagree with Bigshutterbug, on OS players exhibiting more air. NOS players can as well, if they are made right. My NOS DAC excels in hf detail, including spatial clues. It's delivery is far more natural than any OS player auditioned here. OS pl... |
