Good Used Speakers ($8K-10K) For A Little Listening Room
You'll look long and hard to find a better set of stand mount speakers than the JWM Alyson AML.  I've heard them a few times, and they are incredible.  Just google the reviews from Secrets of High Fidelity and HIFIZINE. http://www.jwmacoustics.com...
KEF R107/2 vs REVEL f52
Keep your eye out for a great condition used pair of Legacy Audio Signature SE around the $5K price.  Very easy to drive, great Air Motion Tweeter, and bass down to 22Hz.
Paradigm Persona 3 vs 5 vs Monitor Audio
@ brownsf,"I checked out the Aeris and it appears to be an active speaker which requires AC power, which won't work for me." Not sure if you're still looking, but I'll put this out there.  I spoke the other day with Legacy, and he indicated that ...
Focal Aria 936 vs 926 bass response
Between 926 and 906 for surrounds, I would go with 926.  I use PSB tower speakers for my surrounds and I love the full range sound that I get from them in movies.
Still looking for speakers in the 10-20,000 range
I've seen and auditioned two different nice condition used Stradivari for sale lately, and both were asking $30K or more.  BTW, both sounded awesome!
Still looking for speakers in the 10-20,000 range
@ fast,If, after some time, the KEFs still don't float your boat, here you go:http://legacyaudio.com/products/view/focus-xd/Full range, non-fatiguing sound, and should run a bit less $$ than the Reference 5s.  With their internally amplified bass ...
Dynaudio vs B&W help...
@ manofsteelptI have very little experience with subs, so I'm not the best person to ask.  But my guess is, yes, a sub would be able to fill in the lower octave at low volume levels.
Dynaudio vs B&W help...
@ manofsteelptI understand you have concerns about large towers, but considering that you stated that you mostly listen at lower volumes, in my opinion, you might reconsider.  With your stated desire for speakers that sound nice and full range at ...
Dynaudio vs B&W help...
That's why receivers used to have a "loudness" button on them!  IMO, it helps for speakers to be physically large with respect to sounding decent at low volume levels.
Integrated amp with HT bypass for Focal Electra 1008 Be
The new Anthem STR Integrated might be worth checking out.
Dynaudio vs B&W help...
Focal 1028 BE is a great option.  I think I'd go Focal over either the Dyns or B&W.  My Dyns seem to start hurting my ears after listening for not all that long.  Also, the new(ish) Focal Aria series are getting great reviews.  Also look for a...
Should I upgrade my towers?
Focal Aria 936 would be great in your price range, but there are hundreds of speakers out there to research and audition.  The problem with Focal is that there are so few brick and mortar shops that have them for audition.  Paradigm and Klipsch ar...
Focal No.2 Speaker System: A New Age Dawns
Thanks for the report on the Kanta No. 2.  I certainly want to hear them, even though they are a bit smaller and don't have the bass extension I'm used to.  But, if everything else is stellar, I can live with that or get a sub!
Personas....7F vs 9H
It seems that 7F is not being stocked by many shops.  I've been to a couple shops to listen to Persona, and neither had 7F on demo.  As the largest passive member of the line, it's really important to get a listen to 7F in order to see if the bass...
Anthem getting into two channel with new STR pre-amp-- anyone heard it?
