I need opinions, Schhit Freya+ and an appropriate Amp
wolf, you react, as if you, personally, are being attacked. Take a chill pill..………..it is all about the music, and we, as listeners, are all individuals, with our own ideas, interpretations, opinions, experiences, etc. All good buddy. In fact, did...
Odyssey "Khartago" Stereo Extreme" amp compared to Schitt's "Vidar" amp
To embrace what georgehifi was saying, you can get a pair of Nuforce STA 200’s at $499 each and, passively, vertically biamp the 7s. Most people are clueless to a configuration like this, but it is quite amazing. I am using the exact set up on a 3...

wolf, say what you want ( as you always do ), but descriptions on various threads, including musicians threads, speak of " color ", warmth ", and " roundness " of tubes, especially bass players and drummers, where quickness, tightness and control ...

I have not heard the Aegirs, but I own 2 STA 200s, which drive my several pair of Klipsch exceptionally well ( drives all my other speakers as well ). I do have many other amplifiers as well. I have also gone passive, as a preamp no longer makes s...
"Dazed and Confused" about upgrading current speakers
I would try and bypass the CJ preamp, as it could be adding to much warmth, robbing you of exactly what you are saying you are missing ( try an inexpensive passive unit, such as a Schiit Sys, or a Douk Audio passive, the HiFi version on the Bay )....

I will play devil's advocate here. 1st and foremost, I am an old time Klipsch Heritage fan boy, Klipsch Heritage expert, and a retired audio consultant, whatever...….I know Klipsch ( the Forte II was marketed as a Heritage model after it's release...
Should I add a Preamp to my system
Another preamp / passive thread ? Read through some of the other threads here, as you will get so many opinions, for, or against. I prefer passive, as any gain stage I have had ( preamp ), colored, and sacrificed, details, in all aspects of my rec...
From ZERO to Hero?
To the OP. Are you hearing problems or issues with your system ? These transformers are made as band aids to help with the amplifier / speaker interface, when impedance issues are present. McIntosh is the only ss amp company making autoformers as ...
Merrill Audio ELEMENT 118 on Tour
The " stated " signal to noise ratio on the Veritas seems to be much lower than on the 116, 128 db vs. 110 db. Is this a mistake ?
Tekton or Klipsch
Never heard the Tekton DIs. Very popular. I have been a Klipsch " Heritage " fan boy for 50 years. I can hear, through Klipsch, differences in fuses, so I feel they have detail and convey nuance. Kefs with a pair of subs will not give you the dyna...
Tortuga Preamps
If only the Lightspeed had 3 inputs......I would sacrifice a " little " in sq for the convenience. George feels it sacrifices a lot in sq, and who am I to doubt him. Likely the best passive out there. Which, to me, means, it is the best, as I no l...
Tortuga Preamps
I purchased a while ago, the Luminous Audio Axiom, Series 2, with Walker Mods, 3 in, 2 out, single ended, with remote, and I love it. It is not LDR based. Enjoy ! MrD.
Use this song if you are doing an A/B with Preamps
There are many recordings I use for evaluating gear, but I particularly like using Stevie Ray Vaughn's " Tin Pan Alley " to do any equipment evaluations ( studio version from the album " Couldn't Stand the Weather " ). Enjoy ! MrD.

Using a 100 Volt amp on our 120 volt power line ?
Hi all. After more than a year of posting this thread, I am planning on purchasing a 100 volt cd player from Japan, and I am looking for a suggestion for an excellent quality, proper converter, for use here, with our USA 120 volts. Under 100 watts...
