Serious Passive Preamp question
My Luminous Audio Axiom II, with Walker Mods, single ended, 3 in, 2 out, with remote, is wonderful. Enjoy ! MrD.
Best SS amp choice for Zu Omen
I built my power cords ( which was not cheap ), and over the years have tried many Dacs ( all under 1K ), and I still enjoy my modified Adcom GDA 700. In my 2nd system, I use an Audio Alchemy DDEV3.0, with a modified power supply. Upgrading your D...
Best SS amp choice for Zu Omen
coachpoconnor. The Schitt is a better choice, but, you might just want to try your Nad as a preamp, as you will experience the small amount of play you would have in the volume control. The Nad will be in the ballpark of the Parasound. This will a...
Best SS amp choice for Zu Omen
You never mentioned the source ( s ), but Yes, it would be an excellent choice !  Enjoy ! MrD.
Best SS amp choice for Zu Omen
What are your sources. It is a high gain amp. I would recommend you read up on the STA 200, as well as the JOB 225 ( both designed using a Goldmund circuit, which Goldmund has been upgrading ( perfecting ) for 15 or so years, licensed out to Job a...
Best SS amp choice for Zu Omen
Audio Advisor still has the Nuforce STA 200 for $499. I know a few individuals who have it driving their Zu speakers, and are quite happy. Use your Nad as a preamp, or get a simple passive unit. I own 2, and I am very happy. Enjoy ! MrD.
Horns: Why don't they image well?
As I have said many times on various A'gon threads, Klipsch were always designed with a particular price point in mind. My favorites, the original Heritage models, designed by PWK, were always, imo, and ime, great designs, but unless they were " f...
WHAT HAPPENED TO SONUS FABER?
I had on loan a pair of Extrema, owned by an importer friend of mine. After several months, I realized they were one of the greatest speakers I had the pleasure of having in my listening room. They loved the juice. My 2 best powerful amps at the t...
Klipsch Forte III--Pleasantly Surprised
roxy, that is awesome. You cannot over damp the horn, but be sure you can still re-install the horn. The lip at the face of the horn needs to still fit into the baffle cutout, so the thicker you go, you need to leave space behind the lip ( widest ...
Cover songs that are better than the originals.
Many great renditions of Hallelujah, but I like Jeff Buckley ( from Grace ), with K.D. Lang as a close 2nd. But as I said, many good performances of this. Enjoy ! MrD.
Klipsch Forte III--Pleasantly Surprised
@oldschoolsounds, many speaker companies use a " ring " between the driver and the cabinet ( foam, rubber, paper/cardboard ), but I believe it is used to suppress energy from the driver to the cabinet, and the reverse, to suppress energy from the ...
TASH SULTANA
Watched and listened to all of her youtube stuff. She is a talent for sure, and has passion beyond most. Thx again yyzsantabarbara & amg56 ! Enjoy ! MrD.
Horns: Why don't they image well?
Is this thread serious ? Enjoy ! MrD.
Klipsch Forte III--Pleasantly Surprised
wolf, a typo I am sure. Detained, detailed. I am happy, if you guys want to do damping, that is up to you. I am happy if you do not. It was, and still is, a very significant tweak Klipsch owners have been doing for 50 or so years ( I am not the on...
Klipsch Forte III--Pleasantly Surprised
Remove the mid horns of the Forte 111s, and dampen them from the rear, using a product like dynamat. Do it in abundance and evenly, re-install them, and you will hear gobs more detail. Enjoy ! MrD.
