Speakers for a small room, looking for feedback
I second the suggestion concerning the Tetras. Especially the "Live" line. The advertisements say "sounds like being there."
Dynamics and Microdynamics
The Wilsons, in their earlier incarnations, leaned (no pun intended) from thin sounding (Series 1), to richer sounding (Series 2) to lean again (Series 3). Depending on which incarnation you are using, this may be helpful information.I don't belie...
Nordost new power leads v2
You know, I had a thought: Shiva would be fine for a warm, romantic component that needed some speed, but not for components that are lean, mean, fighting machines already. In such an instance, it seems to "lighten" the presentation. Besides all t...
Neuance & Zoethecus,EMC-1UP & First Sound Preamp?
P.S. In my longer post, I said "the wood floor, being LESS flexible" when what I meant was "...the wood floor being MORE flexible." Of course, the wood floor IS more flexible, and it would certainly provide a less stable footing than the concrete,...
Neuance & Zoethecus,EMC-1UP & First Sound Preamp?
Yes, Drubin, the amps have been on the carpet and they vibrate quite a bit from being in the path of the bass waves. Not a recommended procedure... :-(When placed on the carpet, the distortion causes rather unpleasant screechiness, especially on o...

Sebastian: what do you hear as the most significant improvement going from Vishnu to Valhalla?
Anybody using the Nordost Vishnu PC?
And furthermore...!:-)There's a report in the Inner Ear magazine on the Vishnu. They found exactly what I did: put the Vishnu on the preamp FIRST. I had put it on the amps and CD players. My reaction was...oh, yeah, that sounds.....better? Well, y...
Neuance & Zoethecus,EMC-1UP & First Sound Preamp?
I received my Neuance platforms here in Connecticut. The Hurricane mono amps were previously on a Zoethecus table wide enough for both amps (although they WERE pretty close to each other). When the Neuance arrived today, I placed the amps on them ...
Are Wilson speakers
Albertporter:I think people need to realize that frequently they may be hearing the system AHEAD of the speakers instead of assessing the sound of the speakers themselves. I read the Alons are "bright." Nonsense. I have several models. They're no ...
Neuance & Zoethecus,EMC-1UP & First Sound Preamp?
The amps weight 65 pounds. I remember hims saying to my partner that the platforms' ultimate weight had a little leeway. We definitely, when placing the order, indicated the amps were 65 pounds, so I assume, if he had a problem with it, we'd know ...
Neuance & Zoethecus,EMC-1UP & First Sound Preamp?
I have both. I have a pair of mono amps on the Zoethecus; am waiting for the Neuance platforms for the amps. I have the Neuance under my preamp, the First Sound.Interesting that others have suggested the Zoethecus adds "warmth." I observed that my...
Strange Tonearm Tweak. Long
Twl:I've just looked over my OL RB 250 tonearm and I don't see where one would "press fit" the weights. There aren't any real "nuts" to press them onto. Did you remove something else on the tonearm?
Nordost new power leads v2
Yup. I have both Shiva and Vishnu. Shiva's a little bit thin; Vishnu is, as Linkster wrote in another thread, "turbocharged." In fact, these are better than I thought, something I didn't realize until I'd had another cord on my preamp for a few da...
Anybody using the Nordost Vishnu PC?
Linkster:I agree completely! In fact, I like it a heck of a lot on the preamp (First Sound Presence). "Turbocharged" is EXACTLY the right word for it, especially if placed on a preamp.
Anybody using the Nordost Vishnu PC?
I agree about the Nordost VishnuOriginally, I thought it was thin, as in "lightweight sounding," not as in lean. However, I concur with Togo: after a change of tubes (no, the tubes didn't make it sound richer: they were simply old), I found it qui...
