I have found out why new cables and tweaks actually work! @immatthewj, LOL! But way too extreme. If you're wrong, there's no going back from eye-gouging! I would try something like removing earwax first, and see how that works. Or you can walk around the house with an eye mask on for a few days and s...
What's the oddest thing in your music collection? Oddest thing . . . Hmmm, I would have to say that "An Evening With Wild Man Fischer" produced by Frank Zappa has to be up there in the running!
patricia barber - diana krall - holly cole I can't say much about either Diana Krall or Patricia Barber live, but I can say that Diana Krall's albums are generally magnificently recorded, especially Live in Paris and Love Scenes. Patricia Barber . . . another artist that I would love to s...
Pass Labs Speaker Choices My 250.8 powers Wilson Audio Sabrina X's, ARC REF6 pre, and MSB Discrete DAC. When I sit in my music room and smoke a bong hit when listening to live music, I feel as if stage security is going to kick me out, LOL!
I have found out why new cables and tweaks actually work! I found that the cheapest tweak is candling your ears to remove the earwax. Amazing improvement in soundstage, air around the instruments, and the bass is now magnificent!
Streamer advice I had very good luck with a Naim NDX streamer, and DAC, which I found to be an excellent combination. It also comes with a Naim app, so if you’re one of those folks that doesn’t want to use Roon, you have a free app that works very well. I think t...
Why do so many sellers take offense to offers on their listings? I don't understand it. Buyers want a bargain and sellers want as much as they can get, generally. So what? As a seller, if you get lowball offers, just say no. No reason to get offended by it. Buyers can't be faulted for trying to get a barga...
Pass labs upgrade path I can't say much about your actual question, i.e., moving up to the .8 series. However, I have the 250.8 and it is excellent. People say that they like the 250.8 better than the 350.8, but all I can say is that I am very happy with it. I have al...
Cables to settle brightness I had speakers that I felt were a little bright on the top end (Focal Diablo Utopia III's). I have very good success with Morrow Audio cables, and particularly the SP-7 speaker cables. not expensive and they work great. I also used MA7 IC's as ...
Primaluna or not Primaluna I think that its hard to judge different amps without knowing what the rest of the equipment is and even the room. So many things go into "sound." That being said, when I had Focal Diablo Utopia III's, I got a PrimaLuna Dialogue Premium HP, whic...
What is the Best Sounding Stand Mount Speaker in the world? The Borresen 01's seem to be the consensus winner here, a speaker that I never have listened to. I am surprised that the Focal Diablo Utopia III's have been nominated for that category of the "best ever." I had them and they are great speakers, ...
any lawyers in this forum care to give an advice? I am licensed in California and Massachusetts, but the advice is pretty much the same everywhere. First, assuming that the dealer was an authorized dealer, and assuming that the dealer arranged for shipping (even if you were charged for it), the ...
Record collecting versus hoarding Like so many, I began accumulating LP's in the early '70s and have about 1,000 LP's from my college days, all in great condition as I had a pretty good turntable at all times and always used a DiscWasher and ZeroStat (still have both!) every time ...
Your experience in "in their day" brands/components that you remember foundly? So my starter system in 1977 in college was a Phase Linear 4000 pre, a Phase Linear 400 power amp, a Yamaha Tuner, a Phillips 212 turntable (with highly cool green LED touch sensors for speed on on/off, which in 1977, was awesome( and Electovoice ...
Magnepan .7 Alternatives @rnl997, I too have heard great things (but haven't actually heard) the Ohm Walsh 1000 talls and they are within OP's budget. there are several threads here by fanboys of the Ohm Walsh speakers and probably are a lot more forgiving of crappy reco... |
