power cord for pass 250.8
I have a past labs 250.8. I’ve gone through three differen on it. First I started with the stock cable. Then I replaced it with a Morrow Audio MAP3 power cord, which was a definite and distinctive improvement over the stock cable. Then I swapped i...
The time has come and I request advice...
I have to disagree with @ghdprentice on the viability of Roon. It is well-supported by manufacturers, and IMHO, is a fantastic product, that works great (for me), gives me great info on groups and albums that I did not know, and supplements my ext...
RCA to XLR (Anthem MRX to dan d'agostino progression)
MSB makes a characteristically fantastic RCA to XLR Converter.  Each one weighs 1.8 lbs. and they are rock solid!  Look them up. (Disclaimer:  I have my pair for sale at US Audiomart)
Dog pissed on speaker
I use Zero Odor (blue and white bottle), available on Amazon.  It gets rid of the odor and breaks down the urine.  Works like a charm around the house for cat urine, much better than Nature's Miracle, which does nothing.  Well it does something . ...
The molecular level explanation of "cable burn-in"
I believe that I can hear the difference between cables that I have put into my system.  The physics of why that is the case . . . I haven't the slightest idea, although it seems like manufacturers believe that they need to say something to explai...
The $10,000 Question
Joseph Audio Pulsars used -- about $4-5k.  A truly excellent speaker, especially for its price, shocking about of bass for a stand-mounted speaker.  Amp: used Pass Labs 250.8 (about $6K used). That is a great combo for about $10K and the Pass will...
What's up with the price of Vintage equipment?
@vitussl101 nailed it.  I was a freshman in high school in 1972. I and my buddy lusted after high end gear.  I had a Harmon Kardon 430 as my first "good" receiver, a Phillips turntable with highly cool (for the time) LED touch sensor buttons, and ...
Neat "Tweaks" to improve the SQ of your streamed music!!!
+1 on the Purons.  I have had two in my system for about 100 hrs now.  At first, I thought that the improvement was simply because I was listening to well-recorded music.  But I have now realized that everything that I listen to . . . even bootleg...
Power cable Advice...
If you have all the money that you want/need, go ahead and blow whatever you want on power cables.  But it doesn't seem that you are in that category.  I have a Pass 250.8, ARC REF 6 and Sabrina X speakers.  In my system, I have heard a decent, au...
Puron Plug-In AC Power Conditioner; Impressions 😁
I have now had the two Purons installed for over 100 hours, and I am very surprised at the improvement in my system.  The most noticeable effect for me is the improvement in the width of soundstage and the placement of the instruments within it.  ...
Floorstanding speaker experiences/recommendations in the $12-25k range
You are certainly in a very popular price category with a lot of choices.  I was there last year and went with the Sabrina X's.  in my system, they do everything right.  (I also have a REL s/510 in the system). You are likely to be underpowered fo...
Smaller plug-in AC Purifiers -- Shunyata, iFi, Puron...something else? What do you like?
I will throw my hat in the ring as a happy Puron customer as well.  Bought 2 of them and I perceive a significant audible improvement in both soundstage and the depth of the soundstage.  Definitely worth the $400 I paid for 2!
DAC/Streamer/PreAmp
I would recommend the Audio Research REF6 over the 5SE.  I use an MSB Discrete DAC with a Premier Power Base with the renderer module, and a solid state hard drive connected with CAT8 cable, all managed by Roon using an iPad next to my listening c...
Do You Buy Speakers Without Hearing Them?
For me, price dictates my desire to actually hear a speaker, unless I am familiar with the "house" sound.  But I have found that no matter what, speakers don't sound the same in the store, of course, and as you go up in price, they become more sen...
Cable Break In for the Naysayers
I don't understand it and therefore the phenomenon of "break-in" doesn't make sense to me, except perhaps with speakers.  But nonetheless, I have perceived a difference between when I first hooked cables up and ran them for 50 or 100 hours.  So wh...
