Cassette Deck Repair
Hate to say it, since I have a bunch of old cassettes from college, and a near new dual cassette deck, but junk it.  With current technology, for background music or serious listening, streaming is the way, either from a server or a streaming serv...
Huey Lewis diagnosed with Meniere's disease
Seeing how many people have posted here, I wonder if there is any link between the volume at which one listens to music, or the frequencies that good audio might reproduce better than run of the mill equipment. That would truly be ironic -- higher...
too bad Audiogon seems to have morphed to fussy, picky buyers
@skiroe, people still listen to FM?  Why? With Spotify, Pandora, Tidal, randomized playlists, etc., why would anyone want to buy an FM tuner and listen to FM?

@whiskeypirate, I have seen ads from a guy in Cyprus . . . don't know if its the same guy, but how many people from Cyprus advertise equipment on here? I always thought that it was weird, and, although all seemed legit, I wasn't interested in deal...

That has not been my experience with Agon at all.  I've been on here since 2001 and have bought and sold a bunch of equipment.  I have never had a problem, either as a buyer or a seller.  When I recently sold some gear, did I get some lowball offe...
Good Used Speakers ($8K-10K) For A Little Listening Room
Thanks so much for everyone's input.  So many recommendations and choices, that, other than room treatment of some sort, its difficult to really know what to do.  First, I don't really have a clue as to how to figure out what room treatment is eve...
I think I've Just Seen Absolute Proof That Audiophiles Are Insanely Gullible
Horror!  Only a stock VPI clamp?  How are you going to hear all of the sweetness and wildly expanded soundstage.  Cable risers look cool.  People who come to visit and see your speaker cables on risers know that you are a real audiophile.

@teo_audio, no outrage here, although there is a strong desire to rant.  Yes, it is no surprise that a company that charges $1.9 million for a car no doubt charges a commensurately expensive amount for parts.  That is not really the point here.  W...

Working on the paint now. Will let you know when I've got the formula right so that its performance matches the wild claims.
Whats playing on your system today?
A recording of John McLaughlin and Jimmy Herring at their Atlanta gig in November.... stunning! Then, Rahsaan Roland Kirk live at the Village Vanguard in 1970. An amazing performance!,

I heard that Dalby licensed the Flux Capacitor from Universal Studios to use in its next record clamp!
Let's talk power cords
I am a believer in the ability of power cords to improve the sound over stock, from personal experience.  However, like most "improvements" in sound, it is really incremental, not "that new power cord blows me away." Case in point:  I switched out...
WHAT'S UP WITH MARANTZ?
Maybe Marantz is part of the "Black Components Matter" movement . . .?
Your Go to CD to Impress
Patricia Barber- Companion XRCD ... a stunningly good recording and Shakti's first album -- with John McLaughlin... a spectacular album with Zakir Hussein on tablas... transcendental! I was privileged to see them live in 1977 and I'll never forget...
Music Server format?
I can't tell you what's "best," but I can tell you what works for me.  First, I have a Netgear 516 NAS, currently with 8 terabytes in RAID for redundancy. The NAS is important, both for expansion and for processor strength.  Most NAS have pitifull...
