Power Cable for Yggdrasil DAC I found the PC to the Yggdrasil to have a large effect on my overall system sound. I've tried four different PCs . I started with a Kaplan HE that I had. It’s unshielded with red copper connectors. Very open sound, great dynamics, but gray bac...
What is the best BNC Digital Cable under $4,000? Second on the Jorma. I rolled about 10 cables through before deciding on it. Natural tone and transparent. Smooth, not grainy. Just a pinch of warmth. You might be able to set up a trial.
Confused About Relative Sonic Impact of DAC VS. Transport Well, you have a lot of silver and silver plated cabling in the system which can tend to highlight the upper end. The Belden is supposed to be "musical" and "tonally rich". I have not tried it, but many have. I think you may need some more copp...
Confused About Relative Sonic Impact of DAC VS. Transport You might try a Belden 8402 interconnect. They can be picked up pretty cheaply on e-bay.
New CDP or standalone DAC...? I can't say as I have not used them. However, a better clock probably will improve things. For Redbook-CD I believe a transport/player with a dedicated 44.1 kHz clock is the way to go.
Confused About Relative Sonic Impact of DAC VS. Transport Once you reach a certain level of transparency in the system, all of the cables become very important. It seems to me there is always a bit of trade off between getting a high level of detail, yet retaining warmth and liquidity so many of us enjo...
Furutech FP-3TS762 or FP-TCS31 I tried out the FP-S022N cable after burn-in. It’s very, very good. A bit more warmth than the Black Mamba, but that might also be attributable to the FI-28(G) IEC and FI-50 (G) AC connectors. Really excellent cable. Good details, smooth, nice ...
Replaced CDP w/ Transport; Now, Soundstage Changes Dramatically w/each CD. Why? For your price range a DH Labs D-750, 1.5 m, BNC to BNC is a nice cable. A bit grainy, but throws a big soundstage, good details, and a nice bottom end. I'd stick to a 1.5 m length to avoid reflections.
Yggdrasil or iFi pro dac In my setup I hear a wide and deep soundstage, very lively with excellent dynamics. Detailed, but still a pinch warm. Perhaps something in the setup is affecting the sound? Components not matching well?
Yggdrasil or iFi pro dac I wouldn't recommend purchasing an audio component based on measurements alone. I’d highly suggest listening, preferably in your system. I have a Yggdrasil Analog 2, and it’s a very fine DAC. Some guys on Head-Fi have heard both and commented. Y...
New CDP or standalone DAC...? For your budget I’d suggest a Tascam 200 as a CD transport with a Schiit Audio Gungnir Multibit DAC. Alternatively, you could go with a Cambridge CXC transport or Audiolab 6000 CDT transport. I like the Tascam as it uses a Teac 5020 cd transport,...
Furutech AC torque For the poles, the instructions state 150 cN*m or 150 centi Newton meters. This is about 1.1 foot-pounds. Wattgate advises about 12 in-lbs torque which is 1 foot-pounds. So, about the same. From what I can tell, hard hand tight might exceed 3 ...
Furutech FP-3TS762 or FP-TCS31 Interesting observations. I’m burning in a FP-S022N cable right now. I picked FI-28(G) IEC and FI-50 (G) connectors. I had read the cable might be a bit bass shy, and thought I’d go for gold connectors instead of rhodium. I’m going to try this ...
Suggest Transports that can be Demo'd at home Which is why I went for a Teac 5020 based unit. CDPRO2 drives are out of production.
Suggest Transports that can be Demo'd at home No, it was Audio Union. But, after talking with Pascal it seemed like the TL5 would be difficult to source. I wasn't interested in the higher up models. |
