Why Rhodium?
I picked up a Furutech FI-28M (R) which is rhodium over pure copper. It's very smooth with great dynamics and soundstaging. I also use Kaplan cables. Several with all copper ends, and one with rhodium over copper for my source. In my experience, t...
Ultimate DIY speaker design?
You might consider John Kreskovsky's NaO. I built the NaO IIt. A really great, DYNAMIC dipole! I had a fellow over that built the Orion. He told me they were very similar. A little easier build, IMHO.For less money, the NaO mini would be nice.
Buffalo DAC?
Expect to see some new DACs at RMAF 2009.
Black Sand Cable Power Cords How Good?
I really like Kaplan cables. The copper cord is pretty much a "universal" cord that can be used anywhere. Clean, clear, with great tone.Tweekgeek on this site sells them. Try before you buy.
Oppo 83 transport and DAC
I really like the CIA VDA-2. It's a great little DAC. It will also handle high bit rate PCM (up to 24 bit, 192 kHz). CIA offers a trial period (30 days, less 10%).FYI, there are a number of Blu-Ray music discs featuring hi-rez sound. Chris Botti is...
Stereovox XV2 vs Zu Audio Ash MK II
Let us know how it sounds.
Stereovox XV2 vs Zu Audio Ash MK II
At one time my entire system was cabled with Zu product. I used the Ash, Gedes and Libtecs. Now I use a different mix. My system is all SS, with the exception of a Modwright preamp. The Stereovox has been the most transparent digital cable that I ...
Blu Ray Player
The PQ on the JVC is excellent. What I really like about this player is disk compatibility and speed of operation. Many players have problems loading disks, and are very slow in operation. Not the JVC. I use my JVC to feed a CIA VDA2 DAC via coax....
Blu Ray Player
The JVC XV-BP1 has a blue bar and blue back-lit buttons. A bit of "bling", but I can live with it for the performance of the unit. Page 36 of the owners manual (on-line) describes the audio outputs for each connection. To get the HD codecs I suspe...
Blu Ray Player
For under $250, I really like the new JVC XV-BP1. It doesn't do SACD or DVD-Audio, but it's very fast and plays everything I've thrown at it. It handles the codecs that you mention via HDMI to your receiver. AVS Forum is a good site to get info on...
Stereovox XV2 vs Zu Audio Ash MK II
I've had both in my system for extended periods. The Stereovox is more transparent. The Zu is warmer, with fuller bass, and a broader soundstage. I'm now trying an LAT DI-30 and prefer it to both the Zu and the Stereovox.
