What phono preamp are you using? Soundsmith Zephyr (medium output) and Zephyr MIMC (low output) with a Manley Chinook. Vintage tubes in the Chinook.
Straight out of the box doesn't work. Try the Audio Mirror mono blocks. You have Vlad’s DAC. They might surprise you!
Wanting to try a tube amp. @cincyhound - Vladimir Bazelkov makes the 6c33c based 45w SET monoblocks. He is the Audio Mirror company. Sorry for not being clear😀.
Wanting to try a tube amp. Try the Audio Mirror Reflections. You got the DAC. Had PL integrated amps and power amps till I got Vlads amps. Auto-bias and you can roll the 6SN and L tubes. Gave me the sound I was looking for. Love em.
How does Donald Fagen do it? Everything Must Go is a very good Dan lp, very overlooked. It may have been the last Dan studio record with Becker. I have them all, as well as Fagen solo lps. You can get Kamikiriad (sp?) on vinyl in the Cheap Christmas box set. Also re: 11 Trac...
The Weekend I can honestly say I had no idea who the halftime show was, I had heard the name, but thought it was a band...so, “don’t know, don’t care”. Quit watching halftime years ago.
Looking for a tube Preamp new or used for under $2000... PS - I do not have the same amp as you. My monoblocks are by Audio Mirror.
Looking for a tube Preamp new or used for under $2000... Check out a used Ultraverve by deHavilland. I had integrated amps and separates based on 12Au7 tubes for years, then tried this 6sn7 signal tube based pre. In my system the 6sn7 pre gave me what I was looking for, bigger soundstage, instruments an...
Entry Level Tube Preamp or Higher Quality Used Model? Used Ultraverve.
Small Footprint (compact) amp to power speakers? Nuforce STA200. 80w. Got it new for $500 as a backup amp from AudioAdvisor. Nice little solid state push/pull. If needed u can get a $49 2 input switch box from Schitt.
Hi end tube preamps, it’s all about functionality!! I have a system for music (my top priority) and a totally separate system for movies and sports in the same room. Been this way since the beginning and works great. I would never have even tried to have one system do both. Too many compromises. C...
Audiophile metal albums I think Queens of the Stone Age lps are recorded well for hard rock. Not sure it is metal, but some of their songs are very heavy. The import version of “Songs for the Deaf” sounds great, and Rated R (I got the Rated X import) sounds super also. T...
1st Album you Ever Owned? Cream, Disraeli Gears. I had an older brother and sister and had a big exposure to their Beatles and soul music albums prior to that lp.
Integrated Tube Amps with Subwoofer out? I tried unsuccessfully to integrate a sub using the line outputs of my integrated tube amp when I had it. Get 2 subs and go directly from amps to powered subs. Much easier and sounds much better, bigger soundstage, clearer, tighter bass and seamle...
Best "Bang for the Buck" you have owned? The original Acurus DIA100. Originally $995 list back in the day. Never one problem, still works and powers my outdoor speakers. Sounds great. |
