Some cd masters I own sound better than Tidal and Tidal sounds better than some cd masters I own. +1

Hooking a Phono Preamp up to a Preamp
Any input EXCEPT phono.  Tuner, Tape, Aux, Video, CD, DAD, are all the same high level inputs, just with different names. 
Counterpoint SA3000 vs. Audible Illusions Modulus 3A
The M3A is a full tube preamp.  The SA-3000 is a hybrid.  I have owned both.  IMHO, the M3A kicks the crap out of the Counterpoint.  Just my opinion of course...

What a strange question. It's like buying a wedding gown and asking friends if they know any nice girls. Agreed.  You should always find the speakers you like first, then get the amp to match.  Pretty critical interface.  Seems backwards to me...

VTA for Sumiko tonearm?
Unfortunately Sumiko doesn't make those any longer.  Sorry.  If you could find someone that has one and would let you borrow it, it could be copied at a machine shop quite easily.  Now you have just a regular tonearm, but it should work and sound ...

The FT-3 had an "on-the-fly" (although it was far from it, pretty jerky movement) adjustment.  So it had a base base for mounting the tonearm in and then a secondary locking collar that had the VTA assembly on it.  here is a picture: https://www....
