PayPal Alternative? - What's your opinion?
I bought a preamp from an Audiogon member about three years ago. PayPal took the $2400 out of my checking account as usual/normal.Two weeks later, I got a certified letter from PayPal saying I owed them $2400.00. I had a hard copy of my bank state...
Anyone heard the KIng Sound Princess II monitors?
I heard them at RMAF and LOVED them. I'd really like to get a pair.
Pass XA30.5 enough power for Wilson Sophia 2?
It will certainly work, but IMHO, way under powered for those speakers in a large room.
vintage '50s 12AX7: Mullard, Amperex BB, Brimar
I really like the Mullard CV4004's. Indeed, all of this is personal preference and what tube works best in that piece of gear's circuit design.http://www.upscaleaudio.com/Mullard-CV4004_p_5.html
Need DAC help
The PS Audio is not a tubed unit. I would look for a used Kora Hermes which is tubed. They are excellent sounding.

6922 6DJ8 or 12 AX7 tubes better for preamp?
I have owned many and still own gear that uses both types of tubes. Some are very good and some are very bad. I think it is more in the execution and circuit design than the actual tube itself...IMHO.
DIY tube pre-amp recommendation requested
I second the BottleHead reccomendation. Excellent product at very reasonable prices.
Balanced vs Unbalanced?

If you wanted to impress someone, which track?
"I've Never Seen Blue Like That Before" by Shawn Colvin off of the Dawson's Creek Soundtrack. This will bring tears to your eyes. It's just beautiful...
Used Made in America amps - multichan under $1200?
Add B&K, Carver/Sunfire to the above list.
Does "perfect alignment of cart" eliminate 100% ?
The March issue of Stereophile had an excellent, many page article entitled "LP Tracking Error Explained". There is no such thing as perfect alignment. It's all been pretty much guess work from the beginning. Just get as close as you can and liste...
pre amp tubes and gain
In my experience, it's not so much a gain issue, but more of a lifeless, soft, undynamic sound. It happens very gradually, so I think our ears get used to it. Of course, I've had a tube go microphonic, which I noticed right away, but the aging is ...
Fuse values
I had to call/e-mail the manufacterer to find out. I couldn't read it either.
