Cleaning melted plastic from MC275 chrome surface I was going to recommend the same thing that Rodman did, but instead of a hairdryer, (which may not get hot enough) use a heat shrink gun. My heat shrink gun gets very hot, but be careful to not overcook the plastic.
Tool for measuring pivot to spindle distance? Holly has a Teres 160 table with a few upgrades. The armboard on that table swivels and when you move it, it changes the pivot to spindle distance. I was the one that moved it several times when we were trying to figure out what was wrong with her...
Bidding Frustration There is a difference in an initial offer and a "counter offer". The initial offer, (from the buyer) does NOT lock the sale out to other offers or Buy It Now.If the seller does a "counter offer" it does indeed lock the sale down for 48 hours or un...
Martin Logan Odyssey power supply board testing Glad to hear you solved the problem! Feels good to fix it yourself, huh. ML has really increased all of the repair part prices. If you ever check with them on the prices of new panels, make sure you're sitting down...
Do cables settle in? IMHO...yes. George Cardas is a big proponent of this and I've actually heard him demonstrate this several times with his cables, (I was a Cardas dealer for many years).http://www.cardas.com/insights_break_in.php

Listening volume There is a "perfect" volume for every room and system. Too low and you can't hear every little nuance, too loud and the room starts to interact more and the sound starts to "bounce" around, (reflection and refraction) and things become diffuse. I ...
Does the ESS Sabre Chip have a telltale sound? No. I have had about 40-50 different DACS through here over the past 3 to 4 years.I always thought it was the DAC chip that dictated the sound. I found that was wrong. It depends on how that particular chip is used WITHIN the circuit. Many other f...
Removing Morch DP-6 tonearm wires from cartridge Sharpies work really well for color coding and are a little easier and cheaper to use than nail polish. That's what I've always used.
Michell Gyro SE-what arm? Stringreen...sorry, I stand corrected. I have never seen the VPI arm on a Gyro SE. I have seen it on a regular Gyrodec that has the acrylic bottom base. The SE stands for "spider edition" and doesn't have a base. You would have to mount it to the ...
Static electricity....again I know you posted about this last year and I pretty much have the same thing to say this year. I live in Northern Colorado and have none of the static problems you have.I do not have a humidifier, nor do I do anything special. Maybe it's something...
Martin Logan SL3's I am lovin' them. Elegal...it really depends on how loud you listen and the size of the room.I know of several people here that use that amp with great success on ML speakers. One member uses it on his CLSIIs, which are power hogs.I have tried a MC275 before and fo...

Martin Logan SL3's I am lovin' them. I was a Martin Logan dealer for many years and have personally owned almost every model they've ever made. The SL3s are one of my favorite ML speakers. They can do wonderful things when properly set up and powered with enough juice.Enjoy your new s...
Ever downgrade and have better sound? I agree with Schubert. Many times for me also, not only with cables, but equipment too. |
