Dedicated Power Line Project
Thanks for the tips. I agree with your assessment on stranded vs solid core. I’ve found solid core to be better in my system and use it for all signal and speaker wiring. I’m not sure of stranded’s effects on power wiring. You can get 8/2 and 6/2 ...
Dedicated Power Line Project
You and me both. This is the strange world of audiophiles. Something about no compromises and becoming neurotic in the pursuit of the best sound.
Dedicated Power Line Project
Connections. I want to avoid as many as possible and of the ones I do have, make them as good as possible. A post above mentions using crimp style connectors with proper tools. If I don’t go that route, how about welding? I could overlap the large...
Does Digital Try Too Hard?
I could see that. It was very surprising to me how much the sound improved by removing the motor from the battery power supply and putting it on a separate power supply. So not only clean power but dedicated power to avoid crosstalk, interference,...
Does Digital Try Too Hard?
Quick update: I just modified my CD player to run off a large battery. My CD player takes two voltages: one for the circuitry and one for the motor. It sounds best when the motor is powered by a separate battery instead of both on one battery. Thi...
Dc for power supply
Zipost - You started this thread in 2017. Have you learned anything more about different battery types and audio quality?
Does Digital Try Too Hard?
I’m fairly certain that digital glare is not in the recording, unless it’s a bad recording. I’ve managed to clear a lot of it up with power cord upgrades, power supply upgrades and unless my mind is playing tricks on me, with crystals like shungit...
Does Digital Try Too Hard?
My digital setup has no trace of any glare....the devil is in the detail 😊So what are you doing right? What does your power supply game look like?
Does Digital Try Too Hard?
Some recordings are better than others, especially ones not affected by the loudness war. Even the best recordings can sound harsh at times. As I upgrade my system, digital glare seems to diminish. Next up is a power supply upgrade. I’m thinking t...
Does Digital Try Too Hard?
The solution was clean power - via power conditioners, power supplies and quality copper cabling. That makes me happy to hear as I am about to embark on a journey to clean up the power going to my CD player. 😀
Is a stereo system a tougher sale to young people?
I think the older generations should try to help the younger generations realize how enjoyable a good 2-channel system is to have in their house. The easiest way to do that: let them listen to your high end systems and if they are interested, teac...
A cable routing reminder
How many inches are required between a shielded power cable and an unshielded interconnect? How about a ballpark figure: 2”, 6”, 1 foot, etc.
Thank You, Audiogon Community
Wow, that was very nice of Duke. I can only imagine how good your bass sounds. I’ve never heard a DBA, but from what I’ve read I’m convinced it’s probably the best path to good bass. As such, it’s on my bucket list for my end game system. I’m half...
Going Battery Powered
I like the idea of the inverter. Seems like that would be good for my 120V devices. For the components that run off 12V DC, wouldn’t a battery be the better option for clean power as long as you don’t mind the maintenance of charging it? Best of b...
Going Battery Powered
So does it go without saying that gear that can accept 12V DC will always sound better running off batteries instead of a 120V power supply (assuming you have enough capacity to not choke dynamics)?
