Battery Power Supply Yes_ or No_
I can share my experience with battery powering gear. With my CD player, a battery certainly lowered the noise floor but at the cost of decreased dynamics. This is most likely attributed to the battery being too small, not enough capacitance. A li...
Cambridge Audio CXC Series 2
@Mcstin Have you tried upgrading the power cord yet? That was a nice little improvement with mine. I actually used a power cable made for a power amplifier which is like 1.5” thick and it sounds great. My typical experience is with front end gear,...
Linear Power supplies for DACs...?
I recently made some improvements to my front end which includes a linear power supply for my CD player and battery power for my tube preamp buffer. Things have never sounded so analog. Digital glare? What’s that? I also added a VPI brick on top o...
Sony Playstation 1 for a CD player ???
Just want to share my personal experience:I’m running a SCPH-1001 with the dogbreath mod to the output stage with electrolytic DC blocking caps, upgraded RCA cables and a tube preamp buffer. For the power supply, I’ve replaced the stock unit with ...
Power cord for digital stuffs?
I know this is an older thread but I wanted to share my recent experience concerning the power cable that feeds a linear power supply that serves my CD player. I tried a stock cable (smallest gauge), a 14 gauge aftermarket cable, and a 9 gauge aft...
Do I need a sub?
The answer to “Do I need a sub?” is always yes. Even if you already have one, or two, or three, or more 😀 Multiple subwoofers is the path to high end bass and high end audio in general. Yes, if you high pass your mains they will play louder and cl...
Dedicated Power Line Project
Thanks for sharing. Any issues with that set up or does it sound just fine? What is the best way to run two dedicated circuits? If you use two separate runs of romex, how do you tie the grounds together? Can you use 10/3 romex for two dedicated hot...
Why Do Schumann Resonators Work?
I’ve tried an iFi low noise switch mode power supply, a Teradak linear power supply and a battery DC power supply. They all have worked well. Battery power gets my vote.
Why Do Schumann Resonators Work?
They do workOddly enough, physical placement matters a lot and so does the power supply. Clean power is important.
Does Digital Try Too Hard?
I will try that. I’ve got a spare piece of tourmaline that needs a home. What should I expect?
Does Digital Try Too Hard?
A quick update based on some learning lessons from last night’s listening session:1) CD demagnetization is essentialI’m going to go out on a limb here and make the claim that whatever a demagnetizer does to a CD is fixing a fundamental problem of ...
Dedicated Power Line Project
Seeing as they don’t make the 6 or 8 gauge solid core romex I thought they did, I’ll probably just run 10 gauge, which keeps things really simple. Does anyone know what voltage drop is acceptable for a dedicated line? The NEC states 5% is allowed ...
Dedicated Power Line Project
Yes, thanks for looking into that! That may change things. I’m not sure how I feel about stranded wire for dedicated lines. With interconnect and speaker cables, I’ve had the best luck with solid. I wonder if it’s the same story for power wiring.
Dedicated Power Line Project
That’s just confusing. Under specification, it says solid and it shows a picture of solid core romex.
Dedicated Power Line Project
Here’s 6/2 solid core Romex:https://www.lowes.com/pd/Southwire-Romex-SIMpull-6-2-Non-Metallic-Wire-By-the-Roll/3127529You’re saying that building codes won’t allow it to be used?
