Directionality of wire
Ok, so for an interesting read, I have attached a link to a bulletin from the Michigan College of Mining and Technology....folks who should know a thing or two about copper, because they've seen a thing or two. The Bulletin is from 1936 and is t...
Directionality of wire
Long weekend Geoff? I hope it was fun.I know you can do better.
Directionality of wire
Is everyone deluded yet?Are you experienced?Have another hit...
Directionality of wire
More fun...here we go...You quoted Chris S. who wrote to you;"the idea of wire directionality is a complete myth"  Not necessarily, from a metallurgical perspective, but the idea that any directional deviations (based on wire is drawn or finis...
Warm, rich sounding interconnects?
Ok rotarius, I failed to see that your point focused on intellectual property.  Your post seemed more interested in discussing your politics of denouncing corporations and executives whoall they care about is the results at the end of the quarter ...
Warm, rich sounding interconnects?
czarivey, I agree with you on both accounts.I believe most (inorganic) things can be explained by math (and physics) and so of course I am skeptical of audiophile products that require a large amount of advertising and a groundswell of support on ...
Fuses fuses fuses
In response to Al's statement earlier in this thread, Not sure if there are any other UL listed audiophile-oriented fuses. The Audio Magic Super High Definition Beeswax fuses are indeed UL listed.......before the Audio Magicians drill tiny holes...
Can upgraded power cords help my setup?
Ah, Geoff, good point - power cords are indeed directional, the power plug end goes into the wall or conditioner outlet and the iec plug end connects directly with the gear to be powered.  For best results, do not try it the other way around.Happy...
Stay away from the nad
Today I will be listening to my 36 year-old NAD 2150 that sits in my garage year-round, through 80/90 degree summer days and sometimes single-digit winter days, has never needed repair, and still sounds great on a pair of larg'ish outdoor speakers...
Do Mono Block amps provide better sound ??
Short answer, no - it depends on the amp.I have Clayton Class A monos and a McCormack DNA-2 LAE that was upgraded to the fullest extent possible by Steve McCormack in 2014.  Both do 300/600 wpc into 8/4 ohms, and both sound very good, but a little...
Who thinks $5K speaker cable really better than generic 14AWG cable?
clearthink's post below pretty much hits the nail on the head for these types of arguments. The only missing piece is how some base their argument not on the amount of money spent but rather on the manufacturer's marketing/quasi-technical discussio...
Any comments on DAC going direct to power amplifier or to pre-ampliifer?
Something about going DAC-direct, or using a passive volume control behind the DAC is simply not satisfying to me in the long term.  I have had good quality resistor-passive volume controls, transformer/autoformer passive controls, and even the hi...
What are the top 3 USB cables being used today in reference systems?
The list provided by ricred1 is pretty accurate although there are some others, such as the Totaldac USB cable/filter that have their followers. I own both the Curious Cable and the Totaldac USB cable/filter and I prefer the Totaldac.BTW, regardin...
Antipodes DS GT versus Bryston BDP2
The DX is very nice with excellent tone and body.  IMO it displays good balance and leans a touch more toward musicality than resolution, which suits my tastes perfectly.  I have the Gen 2 and am completely happy with it.The DS GT improves on the ...
Any comments on DAC going direct to power amplifier or to pre-ampliifer?
First, you need to make sure the VC does not result in throwing away bits.Current best options include those by Empirical Audio and Metrum Acoustics that adjust the reference voltage and operate out of the signal chain.  To me these still retain s...
