Is my Paradisea + usb dac 96/24? The Paradisea has a 16 bit non-oversampling Phillips TDA1545A chip. I don't know how it will deal with a 96/24 file. I doubt it will play.
Phono Pre? I second the Seduction, but what is your budget and what cartridge will you be using?
Can any Oracle experts help me? If I were in your shoes, I'd call Oracle. I'm sure they've seen this before and can offer some advice.
Can any Oracle experts help me? You probably need a new belt. Did the previous owner tell you how old it was?

Best budget, high current, DIY power cord wire? I'm not an expert on power cables, but I built two PCs loosely based on Chris VH's DIY recipe: http://www.venhaus1.com/diymains.htmlI'm a skeptic when it comes to expensive power cables, so I wanted to make the largest cable for the cheapest amoun...
K and K Audio RAKK dac Thanks Tony. There's only one comment on the K&K Forum about their new DAC - the Mark III. It was released in December, so it's probably too new to expect a healthy discussion. In general, I find forums owned by the product manufacturer aren't...
Cowboys Junkies: playing live in my area I saw them about a year ago in Oakland. They were fantastic. Margo is still mesmerizing. If you like their recordings, you'll love them live.
My universal player is dying. Upgrade suggestions? I've had a Denon 2910 for a number of years and haven't had any problems. I think you'll be hard pressed to find something significantly better for your price. The 3910 has the same video circuit and slightly better audio. The 5910 is another step...
Sonic Frontiers - A Score or a Flushing? Anyone who works on your amp will want the circuit schematic so they can test voltages. You should contact Anthem (new owner of SF) and ask for a copy. It's usually standard practice to release schematics when a product is out of production. Anthe...
to volume pot or not to volume pot If there's an audible difference between the volume model and the standard model, I'll give you a Golden Ears award. There's obviously more "stuff" in the volume model, but it amounts to an extra inch of wire and a potentiometer. If you plan to us...
Cartridge upgrade, something warmer The problem isn't the cartridge. I've heard the DV-20X many times and it's anything but thin. It must be something else. My gut agrees with others to consider a tube based phono stage, but Sounds_real_audio may be on to something. Your thinness mi...
Record Cleaning Randy, just to be clear. Some people use their turntable to do a quick clean of the record before playing. They use products like DiscWasher which has been around since the 70s. Rega discourages this on their tables, probably because the suspensio...
Alon II Mark II Revisiting this thread... I want to point out the need to place speakers correctly in a room in order to get the best experience. George Cardas offers some excellent suggestions here: Setting Up Speakers In A Rectangular RoomFor Alons, follow the ...
Record Cleaning I like the Audioquest Carbon Fiber Record Brush. It's cheap, but gets the job done. Galen Carol sells it for $18. Here's a forum that might interest you: Audioquest vs Hunt EDA Mk6 record brushes |
