Suggestions on Int.Amp w/good pre-amp & remote? YBA Integre DT Integrated Amplifier (one on sale now on a'gon)Plinius 9100Simaudio i-5 Those would be my rec's. Just curious, why do you need an integrated as opposed to a preamp. What else is in the system?
MAC Mini Digital Out cable? A good alternative is the Van Den Hul Optocoupler II which you can get with mini-plug on one end, and that goes into the sound out on the mac mini, which supports this type of digital connection.
sweetest sounding ss integrated I would second the YBA Passion recommendation. If you're listening to lots of orchestral stuff, you may want something with bigger power reserves, but it's a very engaging amp. I personally think the Blue Circle stuff is overpriced, considering it...
Help w/Power Conditioning: Shunyata, Furman, RGPC? thanks tvad, I'll def look into the Maher unit. Still hard to find anyone using the Richard Gray gear.Lokie: any reason not to have the sac and computer on the same unit? I've heard about having the amp separate from the front end, but why have th...
Help w/Power Conditioning: Shunyata, Furman, RGPC? Forgot to mention that I will also be adding an analogue section (leaning toward clearaudio performance and sim 5.3 phono stage w/lyra helikon) so will need a minimum of 6 outlets. Also curious about Exact Power units (sp/ep), especially vs. shuny...
CD player to go with Simaudio I-7 integrated amp Going from what's available now on Agon that I've heard, and given it's with the i-7 (also familiar with), I would investigate:Sony SCD-1 Super Audio CD playerCary Audio 303/300 Ayre CX-7eBel Canto CD-2 player and transportOf the above I would giv...
sweetest sounding ss integrated I would also throw in the Pathos Logos or Classic MK II, although for large scale you may want to get two classic's (something not uncommonly done). In my opinion the sim gear isn't as euphonic as it is revealing and transparent.Plinius 9200 is pre...
Integrated used as Preamp? I agree with Markphd. What else is in the chain? What are you looking for? Why just MF?
Musical Fidelity A5.5 CD vs X-Ray V3, and related If you're interested in moving to a hard disc player then you may want to try to roll your own with either your existing dac or one with USB input (there are any number of them now). I wasn't overly impressed by the 5.5, and I think their x- serie...
All Things Must Pass Totally agree, an amazing album, and George is definitely overlooked. I must, however, say that it's true that "My Sweet Lord" is scarily similar to the Chiffons, "He's so Fine". Everyone borrows, true, but that one is a little funny.
Totem Forest or Mani-2 signature? I haven't tried any other tubes with the Havana, so can't be of help there. I've read people really like the Bendix. After rereading this thread I think I agree with those in the Forest camp. They beautifully constructed speakers, and I found they ...
totem winds any info It should be noted, that Tvad is a Topstick dealer, so nice shill!;)I didn't realize he had both at home. Would love to hear both side by side. My guess is that Audphile is drawn to the Winds because, if I'm not mistaken, of the Dynaudio drivers?
Totem Forest or Mani-2 signature? Zieman, why Hawk over the Forest? I owned the forest and listened extensively to the Hawks, and the Forests are far superior. That being said, I think the Mani two's are amazing. Few monitors do what the mani's do. Depends on what you're looking f...
totem winds any info I would say don't do anything rash. Both are great speakers, but if you only have 15 hrs on the Dalis, and they were new, you're not anywhere near hearing them broken in. The winds wouldn't sound that good with those hours either. a difference of ...
totem winds any info I don't know how much of a significant step up the Winds will be form the Dali's. I agree with Audiphile1 about the sound of the Winds, but I think they'll be more of a lateral step. I would say hear them yourself if you can, as I'm sure audphile1... |
