Has anyone tried the Oppomod clocks?
Of course. Its in mine. Did I compare just the clock mod? No, mine is heavily modded. Compared to stock, there is no comparison. But I've got enough experience with mods to say with confidence oh yeah, you will get a nice improvement even doing ju...
Technics turntable SL D30 with P28 Technics cartridge...Upgrade?
"Should" is hard to say without knowing a whole lot more. In general ballpark terms though you're asking if its worth spending $100 on a cartridge to go on a $100 turntable. And the answers are, Well if that's what you really want then sure why ...
I'd like to upgrade my speaker wire
Nobody with 40 feet of speaker wire needs better wire. What they need is better speaker placement. Or component placement. Or both. When you get things situated to where they should be you will need 8 ft per side, if that. At that point then a good...
Doing the Power Cord Thing
pcc67  I guess I am confused or just lack experience. But my question would be if a company can make a power cord for x amount of $ and sell it for $$$$, why would a DIY not be able to make the same cord if given the same exact parts. To me and...

Please don’t make the same mistake that millercarbon and thousands of LP lovers. This is not about what you or me like it more but facts that can tell us which is superior Question: Why do you play music?Do you play music to look at the patterns ...
Effective length of Origin Live Encounter
Measure all the way to the end of the head shell. Fremer of course has it right on his diagram.
Is it possible to have vinyl nearly noise free?
Still, one has to admit, the way the phono stage knows to make the tick happen every time the record comes around, is pretty impressive.
Seeking advice. Integrating surround with a stereo system
I struggled mightily with this one myself as my system is both high end serious listening audiophile and big screen projection cinemaphile. Huge amount of effort into both, really happy with the results with both too.If I had to narrow it down to ...
Low output from B&O RX2 2/ SMMC4 Cartridge
Okay wait, sorry, it is MM after all? Which is what I was afraid of. Only worse, not switchable. So you have a gain problem. May need to get that outboard phono stage after all. Either that or a new MM cart. Don't even think about SUT, the headach...
Low output from B&O RX2 2/ SMMC4 Cartridge
You shouldn't be having gain problems with 2.2mV output. Not if everything you said is correct. If the receiver has switchable MC/MM input though, and its on MM instead of MC, that would certainly do it.
How does Amazon sell a 300.00 cartridge for 180.00?
Ahh, the old I can't believe it must be gray market canard. When its already been explained how they do it so cheap.Oh well.
Is it possible to have vinyl nearly noise free?
Yes it is impossible. Waste of time. Worse than a waste. We don't clean records for the satisfaction of having them play quiet, or to make the stylus last longer, but to make the music sound better. I suggest you follow BetterRecords.com advice an...
Anyone Having Problem With Cardas Clear Beyond XL Power Cables Falling Out Of Equipment
That reminds me, Cable Elevators https://www.musicdirect.com/best-budget-tweaks-under-99/cable-elevators-cable-supports are really just ceramic high voltage insulators used on power lines and telephone poles. Their first and best use is under spea...
Really bad sounding power cables ?
I'm particularly interested in an inexpensive, horrible sounding power cable to try in my rig, to see if I can hear any difference at all. Okay, but wait a minute. Didn't you just build your own DIY power cord? So is the problem you can't hear ...
How does Amazon sell a 300.00 cartridge for 180.00?
Yeah. A couple things.1. Its not a $300 cartridge. Who knows what it is? Cartridge retail prices are notoriously inflated, and have been for as long as I can remember, which is about 50 years.2. Amazon isn't Amazon, its a zillion individuals using...
