I'm having a really hard time with: "Power cable reduced my soundstage"...
Everyone wants to understand it. Reality check: NO ONE UNDERSTANDS IT!
Shocked removed spikes, used blue tack, what other non spike footer
Spikes go way back to some of the earliest days of realizing vibration control really does have an effect on sound. A spike, anything hard really, was better than the plastic or rubber feet then (and still) common on many components. Somehow the i...
Audio racks
As for sand boxes used for vibration control, I built a few many years ago. I was impressed at first, but over time the sand settled to a hard mass which ended the vibration control. I did try raking the sand, please do not make fun of me, but wha...
Soundstage disappeared!?

Help with room treatment?
I had a similar experience. Four walls in a dedicated room, empty except for the system, you get all the normal reflections only much more dramatically because of the flat surfaces. None of the usual clutter to break them up.Watch yourself here. L...
Trying to reduce noise while listening to tube phono
I've had similar experience since going from an old ARC PH3SE to the new Herron last year. Keith assures me its not the Herron and I believe him. Especially since the noise definitely does change when I mess with the phono leads. Not sure why its ...

Value Integrated Tube Amps
You're already in it. Tube integrateds are the max value already. You are at this point down to splitting hairs. In other words nobody can say for sure as from here on in it comes down to your particular taste and requirements. Except when it come...
Cost Effective Sub Woofer
joscow, read up on the subject, you will find the benefit of using 3 or 4 subs so outweighs the choice of sub that four dirt cheap subs will be much more cost-effective/high performance than the same amount spent on any single sub - no matter how ...
Audio racks
Its a safe bet nobody has tried more than a few. The best rack btw is no rack, and the rack matters less than the Cones and Shelf each component sits on anyway.
Power amps into surge protector/Conditioner or DIRECT to wall? Final verdict?
All talk of power surges is misleading. This whole subject is full of so much misinformation and misunderstanding all I can do is try and hit one tiny bit at a time.
Power amps into surge protector/Conditioner or DIRECT to wall? Final verdict?
aberyclark asks: So the component's fuse itself is enough general protection from electrical surges. No. And eriks comment is misleading. Its nothing to do with line surges. The current fuses protect against is current draw resulting from a faul...

Power amps into surge protector/Conditioner or DIRECT to wall? Final verdict?
