Blow dryer causes audible buzz from power amps in two audio systems...
Hey if its coming from the amp, mechanically not in the signal coming out the speakers, then its definitely DC offset. Causes the transformers to vibrate producing a hum. Missed that bit. My bad. There's a power strip that solves this. Furutech? Wh...

Well what do you use steakster? Fingernails?Still I must admit, if you want to avoid ever learning anything irrational fear is a pretty good tactic.
Blow dryer causes audible buzz from power amps in two audio systems...
Erik is confusing DC offset with AC noise. DC offset is a common cause of hum. Whole different thing.

Appears no one so far has ever wired a house or paid much attention to how its wired. Takes about 90 seconds and a flat blade screw driver to see for yourself what is going on. If you’re worried about your wiring mtrot this will be worth it for pe...
Real time sound levels
Fascinating. I did not even realize until now that is the smallest muscle in the body! Only fitting I guess in that it stabilizes the smallest bone in the human body! At only 1 mm long I have to wonder, how were you able to determine when or if it...
scratchy sound from tweeter
That amp puts out 100 Wpc. Awful lot for those little speakers. Played loud enough long enough you may be hearing voice coil damage. Common symptom, plays fine at low volume, noise gets worse as the volume goes up and the cone excursion increases....
An Audiophile is Anyone Who Loves Audio Regardless of Monetary Status. Agree?
Audiophile is the word for one who loves audio. Is there a word for one who worries about who is using which words?I don't know. But something tells me if WFB was still around he would.
New vinyl quality....
Vinyl quality? Huge and fascinating subject.Back in the day, until the late 1970’s anyway, a lot of records were made to as high a standard as they could manage. Not all but you play them today and its just staggering to think back on what that mu...
How much does volume matter when breaking in amps and cables?
mijostyn pleads: Undoubtedly, electronic equipment drifts slowly overtime as some component values shift with recurrent heat cycles although I have never seen objective evidence of this. There is no electronic device that I know of that changes it...
My experience adding subwoofers to 2 channel
mijostyn states: The reason clio is now feeling his bass is because his subs are now functioning as one driver and the arrival time (phase) is the same across the entire room. This is of course impossible.
Sherwood Pre amp S 6020cp ...Amp Hook up question
So you can hook up two.No.
Windows in a listening room
Windows let in noise and light. I shuttered mine, more like doors really, solid MDF panels dramatically reduce noise and light. Closed flush, its almost like no windows at all. When I first put them on it was fun to bring people in the room, close ...
Best power cable for Whest Audio PS30RDT SE
Right. Active Shielding in general is a big step up in everything I've heard it with. The difference with/without Active is not subtle at all. Also the wall wart power supply offers a nice cost-effective upgrade path. Crazy as it sounds you can ge...
Center channel speaker placement
It depends on where you are sitting. Regular stereo set up well and listening from the sweet spot already creates such a solid center image no center speaker is needed. Home theater is the way it is because it is intended for a large audience. Wi...
My experience adding subwoofers to 2 channel
noble100 says of mijostyn: Incorrect, wrong and you're mistaken. Millercarbon absolutely knows you're wrong because he had the intelligence and cajones to give it a try. Yup. And thanks. Finally got the Rosewood veneer on and finished.  I beli...
