Starting research for turntable
I’m have some wiggle as far as price is concerned, $4,000 was a figure to go from and was only for the turntable. As far as experimenting with different setups, I’m retired and enjoy the challenge of getting the best sound quality I can. I do all ...
Subwoofers and Phase Question For You Sub Experts
EQ is a lame idea, DSP or otherwise. But no more lame than taking advice from a bunch of guys with absolutely zero idea what they’re talking about. Which is every single post so far!The problem you’re having rooze, and the mistake you’re making, i...

If the Omega E-mat is reducing RFI then its doing it on a much greater scale.Do you have a backup theory on the meaning of "if"?

Actually the point is that any way you look at it there’s a direction. If you put your fuse on the incoming signal, the field across the fuse will change from +120v to -120v every cycleIt does help to look at it correctly however. A 120v circuit is...
1950's Vintage Teac R2R Question
How good it sounds will depend almost entirely on the level of refurbishment you want and can afford. Some of these "vintage" decks were very good. But still just like everything else you are smart to take each one on a case by case basis. Especia...
Help!
Swap your LP RCA channels. This will confirm its the Left that's the problem. Next swap channels on the cartridge pins. Then either its the cartridge, or somewhere between the cartridge clips and the RCA ends. So which is it?

@millercarbon I read your explanation twice, which is two times more than it deserves, and in those two readings I could not find a hint of an answer to the simple question fistatus1 posted. Just nonsense. And then when you finally do try to act...

The only thing funny is people still in denial over what's long since been settled. Like decades gone by. I mean let me show you how behind the times luddite stupid it is. "So you're telling me that electronic chip is gonna squirt fuel straight in...
Two subs or not two subs...
Use both. Until you're able to add more.

cheeg:OK, I’ve been waiting for someone else to ask the obvious “dumb” question, but since none of you are volunteering, here goes: if it’s an AC signal, why does the directionality matter? The idea being, since its AC its alternating, back and for...
Tekton Speakers in Maine
Could you arrange for me to come hear them 45 miles northwest of Portland.... Oregon? Actually go ahead make it 145 miles. If anyone in the Seattle area has these, or the Moab, man an invitation like that would be to die for. Those are my top two ...

georgehifi says 'orange fuse bad.' So I guess TDS really is a thing after all.But enough of that. Seriously. Enough. Go away!OP has a serious question:The S and R on the fuse is located on one end of the fuse. So correct me if I am wrong it is not...

The difference is not subtle, not at all. In my amp, because of where it goes its impossible to tell which way current goes anyway. So 50/50, stuck it in. Right away noticed big improvement, yet it just did not sound right. Deeper, wider, more dyn...
EMT and SoundSmith
Haven't heard either of these. My experience is with Benz (Glider and Ruby) and Koetsu Black Goldline. Five or more years with each, except now because of what I have learned about Soundsmith I'm looking forward to getting a Hyperion, hopefully ne...
Breakdown of Turntable Performance
Here's my take:Cartridge - 80%Arm - 10%Platter - 5%Plinth - 5%No love for the bearing? Interesting. The motor I guess is optional equipment too. Probably since the bearing and motor are zero you could just scrape the cartridge by hand. I mean aft...
