Whats a good phono preamp for an Ortofon Synergy G MC cartridge
My suggestion is save up. The Herron is twice your budget but so good you will probably never want to upgrade which makes it totally worth it. Otherwise if you have to have something now you could look around for an old used ARC PH3SE or something...
In-ceiling: Am I wasting my money?
I have no idea if this would be a waste of your money. I only know it would be a waste of mine.
Acoustic Suspension sound in 2020?

What the 802 and 3 Decades can tell us about trends
The trend is clear. The pendulum has swung. At 500 words to say "buy what you like" it can only swing back to brevity. We hope.
The most critical parts when recapping
They are all important in terms of sound quality. However, and this is a big however, in practice you will find a lot of them very hard bordering on impossible to replace. That is because the really good caps are always really big. They simply wil...
Amplifiers weight
The McCormack DNA1 was my first real high end amp. Inside the box was this cheesy looking pointy nut screw thing. The manual called it a grounding spike and said try something like a coin under the spike. Looked silly and the pathetic but I tried ...
Amplifiers weight
Thanks everyone for inputs I learn a lot so is not always about the weight Excellent. In return for putting up with the ribbing here's more good solid info than you ever dreamed there was on this subject. Or so I humbly submit, etc, etc.Mass matte...
Good/honest tech geek, too few and far....
So let me get this straight. Your solution to gear that can't be fixed is to buy cheap Chinese gear you know will break? Since the only thing in 30 years that broke real soon was made in China I have to agree with you on that. For some reason thou...
Just another Orange fuse thread
The only reason threads like this get closed down is because trolls like George go out of their way to denigrate and incite others to levels of acrimony way out of proportion to the discussion. He even rejoices in the closing of threads, bragg...
Any love for newer Krell amps?
millercarbon-I really appreciate your sarcasm. You obviously are a very nice person (couldn’t resist emulating your sarcastic example). Appreciate your projection. (See now that is sarcasm) But its called wit. On which pjr801 has me beat all to he...
Any love for newer Krell amps?
Honestly, I was not able to hear either the Krell or Coda. Both were highly recommended by the same dealer (Dave Lalin) but he had a higher recommendation for the Krell despite the higher price. He arranged for the CEO of Krell to call me and disc...
Any love for newer Krell amps?
Each? I personally would never want to go less than 50 lbs per channel.
Amplifiers weight
Let me see.... two plus... carry the one... Holy crap! $2278/lb! I knew the iPhone was overpriced but this is crazy!
Any love for newer Krell amps?
That's resistance. What I want to know is what do they weigh?
Amplifiers weight
While your question was poked fun at by some, this exact question came up for a friend and I yesterday. Why? Because weight is touted as a "pro" for some amps and we didn’t know why. Its called: marketing.  See: Mark Levinson.
