In-line xover question I use the Harrison Labs Fmod 70 hz hi-pass RCA connected filter. It seems to attenuate the overall signal a few db but is actually quite transparent. For $20 they're worth a try.
Zu Druid questions The Red Wine SS amps are outstanding with the Druids.
Zu Druid questions I wouldn't use the carpet spikes. Follow Kehut's advice and create a "false floor". Spike a hard tile through the carpet and use that for the speaker base. The tuning will never be optimized on carpet.I did it both ways and it was no comparison.
Zu Druid questions Ha! A question on how the measurements are flawed turns into a discussion of them. I'm not sufficiently adept technically to answer these questions completely, but I'll speculate wildly (something I'm good at too).Shardone - Some of this or that m...
Zu Druid questions The problem with the Soundstage measurements was that they hung the speakers in free-air, per standard protocol. They were informed of the speakers' need for floor loading but they were unwilling to break procedure to measure the speakers. The eff...
Question concerning db sensitivity Considering the strength of Shadorne's position and my strong preference for high-efficiency designs (as well as many others) I'd say this is no less divisive than any other of our tussels.I've heard lots of folks say that high efficiency designs ...
Wilson Sophia or AvantGarde Uno? Hey, Rohan! Still loving the DAC . . .These speakers are as different as could be. I would definitely hear both before committing to either.Mike
Another Zu Thread Well, the main question was how far to keep the speakers away from the front wall. My response was merely that the more important distance was between the speakers and listener. If one had 15 feet to spare from speakers to listener but was constrai...
Another Zu Thread Call Sean at Zu about the Pros, I think they are a slight upcharge for the beefier drivers.I've had Druids and both models of Definitions within 6" of the front wall and had them sound good. My Pros now are only about a foot from the front wall an...
Another Zu Thread With the 1.5's, natural response of the rear drivers is flat-ish in response and does not need EQ. I don't think flat-to-20 hz is an expectation with the 1.5's but most folks aren't too concerned with that. They are crossed steeply above 40 hz and...
Another Zu Thread The Pros have much more output potential and can be infinitely tuned in the bass. The 1.5's have a useful bass attenuator but I was never able to get them to pressurize my leaky room.
Another Zu Thread I love my speakers so much as do the other faithful owners. These discussions would be so much more helpful if we could just try to leave personal baggage at the door and avoid pissing matches. If I were an outsider looking in at one of these thre...
Another Zu Thread Argh. OK, here's why Bartok should be excluded from the Zu threads - to date he has added no productive dialog in any way, shape, or form. Derailed threads often do not find their way back on track and this is destructive to genuine information-ga...
Another Zu Thread I don't think so. The footprint is too small for three so you'd need an outboard plinth which I don't think Zu offers.
Another Zu Thread Re: getting any adjustable, 4-spike device perfectly level is tough. I'd try to lean the speaker so three points are touching, then rotate the 4th until it makes solid contact with the floor. Cinch extra nut and you should be there.Otherwise, very... |
