Yaqin Tube Buffer I Disagree a little with the above posters. I owned the (2) tube 6sn7 unit. It is very "tubey" and made a dramatic impact on my system. (not all good, but not bad) I then tried a single tube unit and the difference was subtle, but the improvement ...
sansui au 717 integrate amp If they are doing a "full" rebuild, this is fair. Sansui's are reguarded as excellent integrateds even today! I just had my 919 serviced, and couldn't be happier :)
Dragging out a great old dinosaur I have been enjoying a Nakamichi TA2 Stasis receiver and am currently getting my Sansui AU-919 serviced. Love the old stuff!
Rotel RSP 976 or Adcom GTP 500 ? I have owned both units and would say the ADCOM is much better for 2-channel. Those old Rotel processors sound like crap for music.... Good luck!
What did you get for Christmas? The screamin' mimmies from shrimp cocktail :(
Your Worst Audio Breakdown I lost an EAD 7000mkii Dac and one of my favorite vintage HK receivers during a storm :(
Ipod newbie question? Update: I just purchase and Audio GD Sparrow dac that has a USB input. Can I go directly from the ipod to this dac via USB or should I get a usb to coax converter? Thank you!
Emotiva XDA-1 DAC I totally agree with Zmanastronomy!
2-channel? I owned the same processor awhile ago and really like Rotel gear. Unfortunately, the processor is very much the "weak link". A used 1070 Rotel or NAD C162 are both excellent budget pre-amps and would be a big step up. You may also want to consider...
Are Rotel amps and preamps any good? I have owned multiple Rotel pieces and would recommend them to anybody. Very well built and good sounding for the money!
Integrated vs using DAC or old NAD 1700 I owned both NAD and Bryston. I agree with Headshrinker2. They are very different sounding amps. My thought is the NAD pre would really hold back the quality of the Bryston amp. NAD is excellent mid-fi equip but I felt the Bryston was in a differe...
What started you on your audiophile journey . My dad had a Pioneer "spec" system when I was growing up. I still hoard vintage equipment because I love the old sound!
Upgrade from Rotel RCD-1072 Have you considered using the Rotel as a transport and purchase a new DAC? There are excellent DACs for under $500 and will give you the flexibility of hooking in your TV or CPU also..... I had great success using a Rotel/EAD dac combo!
Upgrade from Rotel RCD-1072 I think you would need to spend alot of money to get a noticable difference. The Rotel is probably the best budget cdp made, hence the great re-sale value. Unless you are having issues with the Rotel, I would look elswhere in your system for upgra...
Musical Fidelity Buffer If tubes only added distortion or coloration, wouldn't all SS amps sound better? This theory is very flawed.... Buffers are also used for impedance matching, which can be very useful between the cdp and amp. |
