Totem Forest, Mani 2's or Green Mtn Audio Europa I bought a brand new pair of cherry Forests last year. I powered them with a Pass Labs x250 amp. My livingroom is roughly 14x22 with 8 foot ceilings. I loved the sound. Just on a whim, after reading the acolades about the Europas, I found a dealer...
Best speaker for $1500???, Have Cary SLI-80 You need to consider Europas, for $600 used it's hard to go wrong. They outperformed Totem Forests (a very nice speaker) in my system during an A/B test. An in home trial is they only way to surely know.
$800-$1500 Integrated amps with a subwoofer output I believe the Manley Stingray integrated can be ordered with a sub out. It's a nice amp and can be found used at your price range.
Jazz station recommendations, please. Easy, kplu.org great jazz all day every day. They're out of WA state.
Do power cables make good speaker cables? Andy, I crimped WBT gold sleeves onto the starquad and slid it into the spade. The spade has two set screws that bite the wire or sleeve. I then used heat shrink to cover the assembly.
Do power cables make good speaker cables? Nickolas, I use VH Audio's star-quad wire for my speaker cables, it's the same wire used in his Flavor 4 PC. Last year I was trialing many different SCs and decided to try some of Chris's star-quad wire. After a couple of months of A/B comparisons...
Jazz Piano? Try going to www.accuradio.com, click on the "Jazz" tab, then choose "Piano Jazz". It's a great way to hear streaming jazz and decide on an artist/s that you may like. They have direct links to Amazon to purchase the CD. While there you can also c...
Besides Audio, what other ''passion'' do you have? Seth,I'll send you some pics of my most recent stuff. Like you, I built almost all the furniture in our house. I'm finding it more and more difficult to spend time in my shop when my system is calling me for a listening session!
Besides Audio, what other ''passion'' do you have? Custom hardwood furniture building. I have a dedicated shop in the basement. I build everything from shaker to mission styles, from kitchens to bedrooms. I'm pretty much only building for me right now, I get in one or two projects a year. I just s...
Moving from SS to tube system A few words regarding the AES Sixpacs... it is true that the EL34 tubes promote the mids, however, I have to believe there is some system/room dependency that accentuate the frequency extreems, not to mention personal taste (this is why home audit...
GMA Europa discontinued? My local GMA dealer in Ohio believed so much in Roy and his products that he left his business and moved to Colorado to work for Roy. I know this guy is very high on what will be comming out of GMA in the future. I believe we are seeing the change...
I'm frustrated with people who don't ... I've concluded with many of your responses, there was nothing I could say to convince anyone, just move on. When I get a chance I'll get some of the guys over and let them hear for themselves. You guys are right, at the end of the day, it's about ...

How Much Time do You Surf on Audiogon? I'm on here about an hour a day. Interesting to me is that I have reduced reading the paper, working in my woodshop and other activities to make time to be here. Last winter was the first winter I didn't build any furniture in my shop because I sp...
Is it that time of the month? I'm under Muzikat's #6. In the past year I've been through three sets of speakers, three amps and two CDPs all because I wanted to try different stuff. Probably some of #3 as well. Good post Driver. |
