Cardas Golden VS AQ Diamondx3. anybody?
Oh, yeah, what did I like about the GR? Sorry, that is what you wanted to know, after all. Yes, GR is a somewhat warm cable, and yes, my system is all solid state--Pass X-ONO and X-1, Classe CAM-350's, dCS/Levinson digital. But the warmth is not a...
Cardas Golden VS AQ Diamondx3. anybody?
Don't remember which Diamond it is, and I'd have to pull out at least one component to get at it, if it even says on the cable. Box is also inaccessible. I've been happier with the Cardas Golden Reference, Neutral Reference, Straightwire Crescendo...
Cardas Golden VS AQ Diamondx3. anybody?
The Audioquest Diamond is not in the same league with Cardas Golden Reference. Every time I got a new Golden Reference, I moved the Diamond to a less important position, and there was a significant improvement in smoothness and detail.
What s in front of your chair?
The real issue is--you would be pointing the bottom of your feet toward your stereo system. In the Middle East and many parts of Asia it is a profound insult to let someone sitting across from you see the bottom of your feet. Now, if you have any ...
ESP Essence power cord VS. H.T. Pro-11
By coincidence I have these two cords in my system, and don't hear much difference. Maybe the ESP is a shade fuller/richer/darker with a bit more in the way of dynamic power, and the Pro-11 a bit lighter/more detailed/less dynamic, but the problem...
Cardas vs NBS?
One further thought. Although I thought the Cardas speaker cables were superb, I can't say they are any better than their interconnects or phono cables. But the NBS 0 speaker cables had an astonishing impact, much greater than any of the interconn...
Cardas vs NBS?
I have recently switched most of my system from Cardas Golden Reference to NBS Monitor 0, and think they are both very fine, but not all that different. The Golden Reference only seem warm in comparison to thinner sounding cables, but in fact if y...
Speakers like Linn close to the wall ??
The Egglestonworks speakers are. I have a pair of Andras, and both the manufacturer and reviewers state that the speaker was designed to throw a very wide sound front and superb bass out of a relatively small size enclosure, while hugging the rear...
Anybody knows about NBS cables?
I've switched most of my system over from Cardas Golden Reference (which is excellent) to NBS Monitor 0. The NBS and Cardas tonal palette is very similar, on the warm, rich side, but the Monitor 0 has amazing fullness in the lower midrange-midbass...
B W monitors too bright?
I don't think you can generalize. There does seem to me to be something aggressive in the upper midrange of the 801N which I found to be completely missing in the 802N, for example. I heard both at different times paired with the Classe Omega and ...
Levinson DAC s
I used the Levinson 36 for 3-4 years, with a 37 transport which I still use, and then upgraded it to the 360S. The 36 was quite fine, but the 360S was significantly better. If you get a really good price on the 36, it's a good buy beause you can a...
Classe Cam 350, Bryston 7bs or Sim W5
Can't help you with the Brystons (which I've heard sound great on other systems) or Sims, but I've been using the CAM-350's with Egglestonwork Andras, which require a great deal of power, and the 350's sound wonderful. I think the recent Stereophi...
JM Lab Mezzo Utopia ?
Just re-read your second post, about needing something efficient, and the Andras certainly are not. But neither are the 801's, and when I heard the Mezzo Utopias, they were hooked up to giant Krell monoblocks, so I'm not sure they're too much bett...
JM Lab Mezzo Utopia ?
Mezzo Utopias are great speakers, and you can't go wrong with them, that's for sure--but here's another suggestion, the Egglestonworks Andras, Stereophile Class A until last fall. They're small (about 40 inches high) but incredibly solidly made (2...
Marantz SA-1 SACD player....worth it ?
Just another thought--the second generation SACD units are coming out. If Accuphase and dCS have out or are demoing transport units with proprietary feeds to their own DAC's, how far behind can one box units be from Krell, Theta, etc.? How much mo...
